XZ proximity sensor always on

Hi,
My phone's proximity sensor is always on(can notice a small red light, especially in dark), when the screen is on. Is this the correct behavior? I thought the proximity sensor should only works when making call.

Yeah, the sensor is on to make adaptive brightness work effectively and correctly as far as I know. You can check this: enable adaptive brightness, cover and sensor and see the glider going down.

My Phone proximity or ambient Light sensor always on. I see small Red Light. Adaptive brightness off but sensor always Red Light?

i have this problem on my xz premium

i think this is normal in xperia devices because many have this problem

yes that is true the problem is the infra red emitted is hazardous or not by simple electronic parts we can confirm that ir radiation is always toward eyes
