Missing settings in XZ3

Am very happy with new XZ3 but miss some of the old settings I had in XZ. What happened to themes? The background seems to be defaulted so cant be so creative ie conversation wallpaper option in text app no longer available. Also why cant we save texts as favourites any more. They were all useful settings I miss.

Regrettably themes has disappeared.

The user guide:

Background
Your device comes with a default background, but you can adapt the Home screen
and Lock screen to your own style using wallpapers featuring different colors and
patterns.
A wallpaper may be used without changing any of the other elements of your
Home screen and Lock screen. Live wallpapers add visual effects to your
interactions with the touchscreen, letting the display change dynamically.
To change your wallpaper
1 Touch and hold an empty area on your Home screen until the device vibrates.
2 Tap Wallpapers.
3 To set the same wallpaper for the Lock and Home screens, select the wallpaper
and tap APPLY. To set different wallpapers, first tap the Lock or Home screen
preview. Choose a wallpaper for that screen and tap SELECT > APPLY.
Hint
You can also use a photo as your wallpaper. Instead of selecting a wallpaper from the
options shown, tap Photos. Choose a photo and tap SELECT > APPLY.

Hi @blackpanda007, welcome to our forum and congratulations on your new device!

Regarding themes, please have a look at the link below, for more information and as @Strampke wrote, you can still add your own wall paper to both the home screen and the lock screen.

For your next question about saving text messages, this is not an option that is available in the Google Messages application, which is the pre-installed application in our newer devices (Xperia XZs and onwards). If you used this feature a lot in your previous device, there are other text messaging applications in the Google Play store that may have this feature, so have a look there and I'm sure that you will find some application that has all the tools that you need!
