Yes, you can use it, it's perfectly compatible.

XZ, XZ Premium, XZ1, XZ1 Compact, XZ2, XZ2 Premium, XZ3, they are all compatible with Quickcharge 3.0.

No it does not. It only supports USB PD. Tried it with a QC3.0 charger, slow charging speeds. With a PD, fast as a qc3.0

Hello everyone!

What @iArvee wrote is correct, since Google has chosen to only support the Power Delivery (PD) charging solution for Android 9.0 Pie. Since Xperia XZ3 is launching with Android 9.0, Sony has created a compatible PD charger that will be available from early 2019.

You can still use your UCH10/UCH12/UCH12W to charge the device, but you will not be able to take advantage of Qualcomm Quick charge 2.0/3.0 on the Xperia XZ3.

So all the phones that were officially on the list supported by Qualcomm will just not work with it after the Android 9 update?

I wouldn't be surprised Google is the reason for destroying other functionality on phones too, like double tap to wake, side fingerprint scanner, Xperia Actions...?

Please make a quiet wireless charger too, while you're at it

I want to buy it from Sony and not some third party, but it seems it too loud to be useful. Thanks

@SDR-1970, This does not apply to devices that are updated to Android 9.0 (Pie), they will keep the quick charge ability with for example, the UCH12W.

@Lukalumen, The Sony Xperia devices that are on the list and are updated to Android 9.0 (Pie) will continue to work with Sony quick chargers, so you don't have to worry if you have for example, an Xperia XZ2 or any other device that will receive Pie!

Hi Jonas,

I'm not sure I understand. Are you saying that all prior Xperia models before the XZ3 can be fast-charged wirelessly (even when they are updated to Pie), but the XZ3 cannot be fast-charged wirelessly at all? Is that correct?

No, that's not what he is saying.

Qi Wireless fast charging is a separate standard from Qualcomm quickcharge. The device supports wireless fast charge as do all prior fast wireless charging XZ2.

What the restriction is, regarding fast charging is that QC2 or QC3 devices UPDATED to pie will still support those cable charging standards, however the XZ3 released with pie does not support the Qualcomm standard and instead supports only USB-PD as a fast cable charge method.

I bought Anker PowerPort II with Power Delivery for my XZ3 & Anker PowerLine II 3ft USB-C to USB-C 3.1

It took 60 mins for the phone to charge from 0% to 75%. I had Battery Care On, not sure if that makes any difference!
