Since the September uodate I have a serious issue. Along with the call receiving bugs described on other topics I also have a problem with ghost swipes. Sometimes my phone gets into a "state" that triggers the notification slider even though I'm just typing, swiping or generally touching somewhere else. I can't fix it in any way I can only wait like 30 seconds before it goes back to normal. Any help?

Well, same issue on my end. And I almost thought having dropped it (just a minor scratch) might have caused it.

Happens a lot in games here while tapping certain zones in the screen. But that differs as well.

Let's hope it is a firmware thing that's fixable (Android Pie / 9.0.0 running here) and soon too.

Silly thing is that it seems to be intermittent so pretty hard to reproduce. That said, I read a lot of people having general touch issues (dead zones, needing to swipe 5mm before the device registers anything) so this better *be* fixable by firmware or else what... Recall?

I think we'd all like Sony to reply or make some statement but since it is well over a year since this thread started they would've at least noticed it by now. Clearly they didn't or worse, they don't want to reply at all.

Whether it is some hardware bug which is indeed resettable by restarting the phone or a lame software glitch causing the hardware to flip out or some other fail in the manufacturing process, I don't see Sony reply to this anytime soon or ever.

It's not like this thread has 500K views or 40K people backing it up so it feels like a lost cause. I am on a backup phone now while I sent my XZ2 Compact in for service to a Sony authorized service provider for -amongst others- the touch issue.

I also never have been able to use anything but the original Sony cable to charge the phone with, other cables just don't fit well and tend to slip out of the phone causing the charging to stop or at least be unreliable. The Sony cable works perfectly. Must be a matter of all "teeth" in the connector vs. only half of them in a standard charging cable because that's also a thing. Not every USB-C cable allows for file transfer. Kind of annoying really.

I do hope they change the screen but I just don't know if it will be within warranty coverage. It has gotten some wear and tear over the last year and even though the problem has been around for quite a while, they might not care for my statement on that part.

But whether it'll be fixed in warranty or by paid repair, I wonder if it'll solve the issue. It sometimes feels like the screen itself isn't to blame.

To be continued...

Update: Phone has been returned to me, they have replaced the USB board (my cable connection issue) and they also replaced the LCD/screen module. This was done because it was "overly sensitive" according to what I can make out of the repair form.

So, maybe there is a way to get things right, but it would require effort from our end because Sony won't recall the phones. Perhaps it is just a certain batch that has the issue, I don't know.

I will start using the phone again in exact the same manner as before and if the issue persists (or not!) I will post an update in here. But since we probably all know the issue is intermittent as can be, I'm gonna give it a month or so to see if there has been improvement / to see if the issue is indeed resolved now.

Cheers all.
