Bring back the volume type selector

The old volume bar had a little drop down arrow that showed us all the options for volume (Media, Call, Notification, etc) without going into the settings app.

Please bring it back, it allowed us to control the volume of both in-call volume and media volume while on call, watching a video/listening to a song all without opening the settings app.

It made things convenient. The new software update shouldn't make things inconvenient.

Hello everyone!

@ChromeForger, This is the default behaviour for changing the volume in Android 9.0 (Pie) and there is no settings to change it back to how it worked in Android 8.0 (Oreo).

@IronWeasel, Everyone is using their device differently and for me personally, this change is for the better, but I understand that this may not apply to everyone.

I'll make sure to forward the feedback from both of you regarding this internally.

Select the 'gear' icon in the new volume fly-out.

The selections are all there and there are no extra steps.

Hi @UsXPer!

The gear icon will open up the Settings menu, so you have to exit that one after changing the other volumes and from what I understand, the users that commentated about this would like to be able to change the volume directly from the screen they are on, without having to enter a new menu and then exit it again.

There's a workaround for the people who want to control ringer and notification volume when pressing the volume buttons. Simple install Button Mapper v0.73 APK, grant it accessibility permission, then map your volume up button to "Volume up" and volume down button to "Volume down". This will make the volume buttons control ringtone and notification volume by default and you'll see 2 sliders on-screen: one for ringtones and the other for media.

Note: DO NOT install later versions of this app, you'll find this feature requires a paid subscription (unless you want to support the developer, of course).
