Why sony gives us incomplete updates of new Android everytime. All major features of Android 9 not included in update. After updating to 9 I only feels like i changed the theme,. Nothing exciting in there. Do you guys agree with me.

Yes. My Xperia doesn't work properly anymore, for example, when I'm getting a phone call, it doesn't show the call normally but only a notification and I must open that notification to answer the call, or just to see the call screen. And my night mode is activated, but it doesn't work and I can't disable it or change the picture quality because it says that the night mode is active. They should repair that.

New update pretty much bricked my Bluetooth. I also drive for grubhub and it is causing huge issues with their app. I have to reboot every time I deliver an order. I click delivered and then the app crashes. Gonna have to wipe my phone and go back to previous version of android. Not happy.

This is interesting...could you spare some time to list what problems you had before, that were fixed after re-installing Pie (I read that as "software repair" option) with Xperia Companion?

Kindly do revert as that may help a lot of us here if it works...

Of course, I'd be glad to help. Well at first I had this problem with night mode, I hacked it before on marshmallow, because I didn't want to stare at the blue light from the screen. It interfered with picture quality now and the screen was normally blue and I couldn't change anything. Besides that, the screen was overexposed and it didn't have good contrast to it. I finally did the whole system reinstall using PC Companion and now it all works flawlessly.

Am I correct in understanding that you have your "night light/mode" working fine on XZP in Pie after just doing software repair using Xperia Companion? Sounds incredible...Please confirm/revert...With some screenshots if possible. Also...which region is this...

I'm sorry, but it could be that you understood incorrectly what I wanted to say (it could be that I expressed myself incorrectly, too, just saying). No, it doesn't work anymore, because Sony took it out after Nougat. It just worked on Marshmallow using some hack to install it and I had problems in Pie because I couldn't change the color gamut or anything like that because of interference with the night mode. Then, after the repair, everything works just fine, but there is no night mode. However, if you activate developer options, there is an option for the night mode, but I don't really know what that does. I, personally, didn't notice any difference turning it on and off.

My region is Austria, EU.

I hope you find my answer helpful!

My battery life went from two days to now having to be charged twice a day. On Twitter Sony told me to repair the software using the Xperia Companion but that didn't help. So I tried a factory reset on the device and it is unchanged.

Each installation and repair breaks my connection with my Android Wear watch and with my car's Bluetooth

To top it off i can't access my backup to restore my messages and settings, etc.

Thanks for the update. Yes, even for Nougat, and also for Oreo, there was a hack to get it working using separately provided apk by developer community - there is a link posted in this forum (Night mode enable after Mar 2018 security update - you have to dig down to get it).

I tried it on my XZP 8142 while it was on Oreo and it worked ok. Then upgraded to Pie, and it does not work anymore - the apk needs to be rebuilt.

Yes there is a Night mode option setting in Developer options with 3 settings but I too, did not notice any change in screen tint either with on/off with any of the settings.

Also "Do Not Disturb" - mode functionality is reduced, "Total Silence" mode is gone.

Increasingly Sony is resorting to handing out less and less features - their mobile unit sales keep dropping quarter after quarter - no wonder.

I also happen to have a Nokia 8 Sirocco and an ASUS Zenfone M1 the former running Oreo 8.1 and the latter running Nougat 7.0 and both have Double tap to wake, Night Mode, Do Not Disturb, etc.

The features which used to differentiate Sony as "Sony" are fast disappearing...

Thanks for the feedback.

Yes agree, but that applies for ALL the individual scheduler profiles created "under" it.

Earlier, in Oreo, I could have (let's say) two separate profiles:

i. Weekend - (Lets say - I want calls from only my starred contacts) - "Priority Only" is the setting

ii. Night - (Lets say - I want no sound/no calls from anyone) - "Total Silence" is the setting

The above could co-exist side by side, because, the sound settings were not created as a "super-set" applicable to all profiles under it.

This problem is already reported in the discussion thread below:

https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!msg/phone-by-google/e4hLRJm60kc/o1RK6ZbsDQAJ

How do I achieve the same functionality in Pie? I doubt if it is possible.
