Yes that seems to be normal. Have tested multiple XZ1 but all are with a warm tone.

So i just recently got an Xz1 off amazon and i was excited to get it because its the last of this sony design which i really like and wanted to see how much nicer the display is.

well i was disappointed to find out it has worse white balance than my X it looks more yellowish where the X is slightly bluer but i feel more true to white.

on top of that the Sony X gets much brighter for the same brightness level. and testing HDR content side by side my Sony X is able to deliver more details in the shadows.

how is this possible when Sony X is not even HDR certified and the XZ1 is supposed to be flagship??

I had the same problem since I was moving from the XZ. The best thing is that you will get used to it. Even iPhone X looks yellowish. As I know the yellow tint is actually good for the eyes. Also the yellow tint makes skin tones look better.

iphone X actually has very accurate whites and dont look yellow. I actually don't care about how the display looks in terms of harming my eyes. i want a screen that doesnt look like crap

Bro I have a iPhone X and it's definitely yellowish when the true tone is turned on.

XZ1 is kinda yellowish but not as the iPhone X.

Maybe your phone is defective then.

Stop swearing at try to get some help from your local support.

yes thats why you DONT turn true tone on.

local support? there is no local support for sony i cant go to the store. i messed with WB which seems to fix it a little bit.

Ture tone is for a good reason and it's turned on by default.

Once you get used to true tone all others displays will look blue. But after all its personal preferences.

You should be able to get a replacement or a refund depending on the retailer you got the phone. As long as its purchased recently

yes its a recent purchase. i heard from someone that the international models tend to be higher quality though not sure.

True tone is definitely too yellow. Although to really tell what displays are accurate you would need a reference point of some sort like a display thats professionally calibrated or somekind of device that measures the whites to see if they are accurate.

it seems to me that third party sellers on amazon do some shady stuff. like sell a lower quality xz1 phone for cheaper. sometimes you can't really fully trust amazon they always do stuff that cuts prices and undermines the consumer. I definitely felt like the xz1 was of lower quality when i was using it which is strange.

Not really, I had a XZ1 before and had some display issues. Got it replaced by Sony itself, but the screen still looked yellowish compared to my XZ. So I would say basically all XZ1 screens are yellowish.

And as I usually say that you will get used to it and say other phones are blue-ish.

i honestly dont think its top grade flagship. not only is the white balance off but the details aren't as good in the shadows. My sony X has better details in the shadow in HDR content.

seems to me sony is using old 2014 displays to cut corners and save money.

i find it weird that so many people have display issues and whatnot whats up with sony quality?

anyways i returned my phone for an exchange but apparently there were non left from this seller. which means i got a refund instead and now im gonna buy an xz1 at a higher price than initially sigh.

yeah but the xz1 yellow was simply way too yellow.

yes white balance does help but it should be well calibrated from beginning.

Does anyone else notice light bleed from the and side edges of the display?

i got mine replaced but i feel like amazon just gave me the same thing i returned. i dont know if my suspicion is right.

I had a replacement from Sony itself but its still yellow. My main problem is the pixelated display. A grid is visible on white or grey background. Kinda annoying at times. But Sony thinks that's normal too. Well multiple problems with the display

it could be cuz full hd might not be enough for the display size. Yes, I do notice so myself that the display is not sharp enough and you do notice very small fine grids. The white balance is also off like you said.

I find it strange that when i compare it to my previous sony phone. The xperia x which is a midranger i find its display better than the xz1 display. even though its no HDR certified i find HDR Content on the Sony X looks better because you can see greater detail in the shadows.

very strange. sony either cheaped out on displays or just failed big time. which makes no sense because they supply apple with the displays so do they make display for apple too.
