I never had these burns myself with any of the Xperias I -or my family members- owned (Z, Z Ultra, Z1, Z2, Z3 Dual, Z5, X, XZ, XZ Premium, XA2 Ultra). Some of them worked more than 3 years.

First very faint but getting darker over time. I will contact local support when I get back from vacation, I would just like to know if this is a known issue / common problem? What causes this?

Hmm this is a common problem with every Xperia phone.

I am using their phones since years, and each and every phone had this issue including XZ Premium.
I do not know why it happens but definitely something related to technology they use.

I do nothing wrong, this is technical issue.
I have no clue how it is for other xperia but in Z5 the problem was caused definitely by the cooling system. Due to SD810 that was very hot Sony had to use headpipes, hot temperature from cpu was transferred to these heatpipes and was intended to spread the heat across back cover.

Unfortunately these heatpipes was always hot that was damagining screen. These yellow burns was always in the same place for Z5. Maybe XZ Premium has some cooling system or a component that is causing heat in this place?

On the other hand, sony service always repaired my damaged Xperias and all its issues (camera sensor was replaced too - due to its abnormal blur in the corners).

/t5/Xperia-XZ-Premium/Xperia-XZ-PREMIUM-have-plastic-frame/td-p/1204171/page/7

Yes i had same problem on my xz premium, i return phone back at service, 2 times, and get phone back with brand new screen, both times..... but NO... that "colour leak / screen burning" did happend again, both times.!! I was tired of it , so i used my new phone guarantee and changed it into a Sony XZ2 !! .. So far so good ;o)

I have this problem now with my XZ Premium after around 1.5 years. It didn't happen on my Z5 which I had for nearly 3 years. Sounds like I need to find a repair centre. It sounds like a common problem - which is a shame, as I love everything about this phone (including the headphone jacko Sony - bring it back!).

Same. This is my first time experiencing 'sun burn' on an experia device, if you don't count overheating on Ion & Z3+. With that being said, I've only had XZP for 18 months (I say only because I purposely try to wait 2+ years before getting a new device) & feel like ~ $800 for a smart phone is a lot of money to have display problems so soon. I remember reading posts from other users having this issue & wondering, 'It must be a different market model with this problem'. Now I can say, US market display burn, CONFIRMED! Definitely a design flaw. Now I'm supposed to buy a premium Sony phone with no headphone jack, for ~ $1000 with this looming on devices? Sony may be losing one of its loyal customers, ME!! 😵
