The screen prompt I'm got was the same standard android/sony pin prompt as before. No extra messages. Each time the pin was entered wrong it would ask again. After a number of attempts it started to increase the counter before allowing a new try.

...unfortunately I need my phone to be able to work and use 2FA, so I had no other option but to factory reset. Crap alternative, but the only one I had.

I have set up the phone now to use a fingerprint + password combination as opposed to pin, so that when (not if) this happens again, at least I should be able to bypass the lockscreen with my google credentials.

What an effing nightmare.

BTW, thanks very much for trying to help:smileyapplause:

Hi All,

Battery died last night while on call, plugged it to the charger, let it get to around 50%, switched it back on.... won't take my pin. It just says it's wrong. I know for a fact it isn't wrong, h e l l I even used it earlier in the day.

Before I lose my data and have to set everything up again, are there any suggestions out there? I tried

- Android Manager but it only allows me to lock or reset the phone (thus deleting all data).

- Xperia companion refuses to do anything all by saying the device is locked.

- The phone won't ever ask for my google credentials since apparently that only works when your security is OTHER than a PIN.

- Yes, I switched it off and on again (IT Crowd ref :))

Thanks for any help!

How the effing h e l l can I trust a phone that does this kind of crap. Up until now I had nothing but praise for this phone.

What EXACTLY are SONY doing in the shut down rutine, which can lead to the correct PIN no longer being accepted?. Are they grabbing an encrypted file that can get corrupted in the midst of a shut down? if so, what are we supposed to do? why is it that I can't use 2FA with my google credentials to bypass a locked phone?

I need answers SONY.

Yes but I use an app called Nine, which controls all exchange related admin profile at application level. This means my device remains free of corporate management.
