Battery Drain (Phone Idle and RCS)

I have been having extreme battery drain since the last update at around 7% an hour.

Going to settings - Battery I see that the culprits are Phone Idle and RCS. Even a Factory reset did not help.

Am i missing something here?

I just go to Apps- Show system and force stop the RCS thing ( i also turn off the option of background activity). It does turn on after a restart but I do it every time i restart my phone. It doesnt seem to have any effect to the use of my phone... just the saving of the battery.

That is not really a solution I restart my phone often. I play a lot of Ingress and after an hour, the game starts lagging (this happens only with the XZ1 compact) and have to restart my phone.
Probably i will have to use adb commands to disable it permanently ala Facebook and Amazon apps

I play a lot withou lags.

I too notice a battery drain. normally 5 %, but now it was like 25% during me 8 hrs sleep time. On safe mode it was again 5%.

Put your phone on safe modeand test it.

On mine it was an app, but im still investigating becaus its still 5-10% drain, and not 3-5% like from some months ago...

It lags when i glyph and fire bursters, the lag kicks in only after an hour or so of playing

Tried safe mode, the drain is still there :(. The drain started only after the last update

I noticed this too, even with or without gaming, I noticed that my battery drains faster than before, and next to my wifi problem that automatically disconnects by itself. I hope Sony listens to us.

Yeah my drain came back. It was not the app i was suspected.

GSAM says Kernel and Android system are the main culprits

Now that XZ2 compact is released, i assume Sony is not going to care for our phones anymore

have you tested the GSAM with the ADB command so CPu usage per app is shown?

Same problem here.

I used to have battery issues before, like usually having around 30% of battery left about 13 hours after charging and only ~2 hours SoT.

But now it has gotten even worse, right now i have 11% battery left, charged 14h ago, and 2h15min SoT. This really **bleep**. I bought this phone and gave my old Z3 compact to my brother, but it definately was a mistake. Even that 3 year old phone had better battery life than this ZX1 Compact. It'd be funny if this so called phone didn't cost me 400€......

Just force stop RCS and disable the background activity option. I also had the z3 compact and it did have very good battery, but it is no match for the xz1 compact. (very few phones are)

You cant disable Background activity for RCS. after restart the background activity is again enable. some systema apps you cant disable the background activity.

I have permanently removed RCS (apart from the stupid Facebook and Amazon apps) using adb commands...

Still no change

You cant disable Background activity for RCS. after restart the background activity is again enable. some systema apps you cant disable the background activity.
Anyway i dont think its that. RCS is enable on safe mode, and on safemode i dont have drain.

Well after restart yes. But while you use the phone without restarting it you can. And i can use mine with no restart from software update to software update... so its not that big of a deal for me to disable it each time.

However it looks like this is not the problem for everybody so i guess its a 3rd party app that causes the drain. I never had any abnormal battery drains. SOT rarely goes under 7 hours. I have the background activity disabled for most apps that i dont want to be running unless i tell them to do so.

Well i also dont have app alowed to run on background except whatsaspp, messenger and gmail, wich doesnt use a lot of power nor data anyway...

I usually reset my phone after an update and this time i had forgotten to uninstall the Antivirus and the stupid Facebook and amazon apps after the update..

Used adb to remove these pieces of useless apps together with Sony email, Spotify, Whats new.....

The phone is back to pre-update awesomeness
