Screen goes black when receiving and making calls

I have been having problems when I try to receive or make calls. As soon as I hit "dial" on phone, the screen black's out, and I cannot end call. Power, volume and unlock button do not respond. When receiving calls, as soon as phone rings, same happens and I cannot see who is calling or answer call. As soon as all end, screen returns to normal. Phone works fine with all other apps.

Do you have a screen protector or case on your handset? If so can you remove these and see if you experience the same issue?

I have the exact same issue, but it just started out of nowhere, and I've had my screen protector on for 6 months without any problem. I loaded the latest software and even reset the phone, but it's still not working.

Likewise, the problem has started out of the blue with protectors in place for months. Any answer to this problem.....PLEASE!

Proximity sensor is not working. If software repair doesn't remove the problem then it is physical (i.e. the module needs to be replaced).
