Battery has really become pathetic since Oreo update. Back in Nougat, I used to have 5 hours and more of SOT. Now, I can barely make it to 3 hours SOT- with minimum use- before charging again.

Long story short, never buy a Sony device again. Like really, these kind of issues are unacceptable. Who wants to charge a 2900MAh Battery twice or thrice a day?! Disappointing. Personally, I am stuck with this phone until I can buy a new one.

I can only think of two reasons for such a mess: One is that developers can fix the issues related to Oreo but are lazy and would rather give speedy updates without really checking everything beforehand. A second scenario would be that the focus is now shifted towards newer handsets(XZ1 and premium) while ignoring older ones- of course ‘older’ for Sony in this case would mean less than a two years- old flagship......

From a business point of view, maybe Sony can’t afford to deliver excellent and hassle-free updates for more than a certain period- maybe a year max? Looking at their financial reports and fiscal year performance, Sony isn't exactly making profit from its mobile segment. Sales figures have significantly declined; it was only by cutting costs and downscaling, that Sony mobile managed to survive in the market; perhaps, it even got some help from other successful Sony businesses like image sensors, which is flying in terms of sales and profit especially when compared with the mobile segment.

Even Sony Mobile CEO announced that company is continuing its presence in the smartphone business only because they are waiting for the next "paradigm shift". For me, that gives me a sense of ‘we don’t care for now’ attitude from Sony. It’s as if they have given up on making a comeback in the smartphone industry. True, it has been tough- for Sony and even other renowned names like HTC, LG and others- to compete with Chinese manufacturers who are making cheaper phones with similar or even better specs and features. However, we are talking about Sony! An electronic giant in entertainment, audio and imaging technology. Like for real, it’s not a rocket science. If Money is the issue, then make it the solution! Pitch in some for future investment and it will surely be worth it.

In 2014, Sony Xperia achieved some decent sales figures mainly due to the Xperia Z3 and Z3 compact; it could have been the turning point for Sony. Instead, Sony lost the momentum afterwards by repeating the same mistakes. Things like:

Same design, tiny and iterative improvement, as well as an average camera performance with cumbersome UI and poor low-light performance etc.” Would you believe that the Xperia XZ dialer app literally lags when scrolling through call logs? It has been like that for a year with no fix!! Truly unacceptable!

As a tech enthusiast and an ex-Sony loyal fan, I have been using Sony phones for many years. I have bought Xperia Play, T, S, Z, Z3C, C4, and now the XZ,, and I believe that, somewhere in between these iterations, Sony has lost its appeal by simply losing the drive to seriously innovate and lead the industry like Samsung and Apple are doing nowadays.

I personally see Sony dead and that it’s only a matter of time really. I’ll wait for the day I’m proved wrong. Maybe that ‘ex’ up there will be gone lol.

I have some issues with my new update for my Xperia XZ with Android 8.

1- Battery life in notification bar:

When I was having android 7, I can explore the notification bar to see how many hours remaining to my battery by dragging down without going to settings.

2- Notification sound after full charge:

When I was having android 7, after full charge for my phone to 100% I was hearing notification sound.

3- Short battery life:

My battery become more short with android 8 mostly 2 hours against android 7

4- Zoom Circle between letters:

When I was typing with android 7, I can move the cursor between letters to add or delete and I was seeing zoom circle to zoom letters. like the one below

So, my question is, How can I recover those features and if not how do I downgrade to my previous android.

Thanks In advance.

I would like to know is it possible to get the silence options back to the notification bar? Before Android update, every time I change Do not disturb settings there was this "how long (til next alarms, totally silence etc)" option. Now I have to open settings and options.

Sorry my english
