To reset this you will need to perform a software repair using Xperia Companion.

Sorry to see that you cannot remember your pattern.

This is post not meant as an offence for you but merely to help other people avoid the problems you have.

To be a bit safer than just end up with a locked device you can do several things.

- setup automatic backups

- In your Google account

- If it is present on your device Xperia Backup & restore

- setup fingerprint scanning

- setup Smart Lock (for instance device unlocked when you are at home)

- write down your pattern or unlock code

- select USB configuration - when device is connected with USB it sets automatic to file transfer MTP

- this is in Developer Options, activate this by going to About Phone-> Tap on Build Number several times

- have you set USB configuration to MTP then you can use USB and Xperia Companion to backup your device before doing Software Repair
