Guys, there may be one or two people that didn't take their covers off....however, for the many thousand other people complaining about this, it just relates to the phones very very low volume. I don't care how hi quality it is when I cant hear a podcast on full volume because there is traffic going by. It is frankly beyond ridiculous.

Hi Mate i had the same volume problem. When the phone rings the ring sound would start ok at proper volume then less than half a second you could hear the volume cut down and go very quite. Even when i put the phone on to loud speaker during a call the volume was very weak even though it was set to full. This problem occured during one of the updates.

I tried all the settings on the phone no difference.

I then rebooted my phone into safemode. Push power button then hold power off on screen until phone reboots. You should see safe mode in the bottom left corner of screen once booted. Do a speaker test. and see how the volume is. if ok reboot the phone to normal then test speaker again.

This fixed the problem for me.

Other than backing up your phone and doing a factory reset, and see how it goes, Or putting it in for repair There is not alot else you can do, is it still under warrenty Btw have you checked the audio settings, and tried playing about with them. Also does it affect the sound through headphones. is the sound when it goes throgh headphones at normal volume.

Yup i've maxed out all the volume bar. The problem did not occur when using earphone...normal.

So i guess something wrong with the internal speaker volume control. The unit is still in warranty period

I personally think but not sure, it might have something to do with noise cancelling on the phone mic, if it has anything like that built in. As soon as the mic picks up anything while you have the loud speaker on it tries to cut out the background noise, hence the low volume, bit like trying to cut out feedback, i might be wrong. You say your phone is still under warrenty, you may as well send it back for repair. Have you tried backing up your phone and doing a factory reset, before you send your phone back for repair.

Are you still having this problem? I'm not saying this is a fix incase you have a hardware/software problem. But have you checked whether you have your phone has low battery each time you use the speaker or headphones? When you have low battery the phone goes into stamina mode, to save on battery life, processors are slower, I think 4k won't work and I know the speaker is quieter. You can turn off stamina mode in settings or alter the percentage of battery remaining till stamina mode is activated. When I got sony Bluetooth speaker it was pumping out heavy base and loud as a system would be. Then it was quiet at full volume. Turned out to be low battery. When your phone is fully charged or plugged in go into multiple screen mode where you can multitask 2 apps simultaneously (one app on top half of the screen and one app on bottom, for those who don't know) then when on stamina mode try it again and you can see the difference in the speed of the phone.

Not to disparage anyone BUT....there have been several incidents of people leaving the factory installed "screen protector" on their phones and then coming here to complain about having all sorts of problems. There have been several threads where different people have suggested that this be removed to see if this is the problem. Now as far as I can remember, every phone I have ever purchased came with some type of screen protection from the factory. The first thing I always do...before even hitting the power button...is to remove this flimsy piece of plastic. So for those who are leaving it on, or not seeing it, or not realizing it is there, I have to ask: Is this your first smart phone?
