Large video file playback slow

If I play large HD video files of size more than 200MB or Similar, the mobile becomes so slow and unresponsive. Unable to view it at normal video speed and can't even navigate +/- minutes or seconds on the video. I did not face this problem in my previous phone xperia Z2. Why is this phone with better hardware worse than that? I've tried playing the same video in both the Sony apps Album, Video and have also tried to play it in MX player but no use. So it doesn't seem to be like an app issue

@Naveen3 is the video located in the Internal storage, or an SD card?

@Naveen3 try moving it to the internal storage and see if it plays back fine.
