Android Oreo Adaptive brightness bug

I've updated the new firmware a couple of days ago and noticed something wrong with the adaptive brightness.

It used to be slowly adjust the brightness but after this latest update, it's adjusting the brightness so fast and make me less comfortable to use it.

Sometimes it makes me feel sick. 😢

Does anyone have this problem too?

Confirm this bug!!!

After updating to Oreo, the adaptive brightness became too much responsive, so it's almost impossible to use. The eyes get tired instantly. Had to disable it.

In Nougat it was working fine though.

Sony, why do you release so raw software without proper testing? It seems like you don't have proper software testing department with rightly the organized forkflow. Where is the thorough Japanese approach, which used to differ your products from others?

Propose to create a thread where we will share all the bugs of the new Oreo. Hopefully Sony will fix these shameful issues on their devices very soon.

Mine just does not even kick in sometimes. I need to turn it off and on again. It is a very useful feature, I can't imagine Sony not fixing this soon.

I have this bug on dual sim model (8142).

Shame on Sony that such OBVIOUS bugs come with latest updates.

Yes yes yes!

Dual Sim international unlocked version.

It is so annoying in a low light environment like an evening living room that I have to turn it off.

I sure hope Sony pushes out a fix!

Mine does the almost strobe like light thing, which is already annoying. But it also can't be turned off. Because every time I turn it off it turns itself on after 2 minutes? Very annoying!

Same issue. The brightness change is too quick without a smooth transition and overly sensitive to the extent that a shadow cast for less than 1 second triggers the feautre.

Dual Sim version.

I have noticed this also, but I won't call it a bug. It happened only near a light bulb, I live in Europe, here we have 220V 50Hz refresh. I think it has to do with that 50hz refresh of light. The ambient sensor in extremely precise and subject to capture differences with the 50hz refresh.

I won't call it a bug. I am very satisfied with the ultra fast ambient brightness. Please do not change it.

One more bug with the adaptive brightness....😡

When I use the phone in sunny weather with the adaptive brightness turned OFF(in the settings of the phone). For example, when typing text ( with Gboard), the brightness goes up and down... It's not so responsive as when it's on, but still it's working when it's not supposed to...

What the hack is going on with the "premium" phone by Sony?

I have the same issue on G8142. Adaptive brightness was working way better on Android 7.1.1.

I also have this bug.

And many of my previous normally working applications now crash randomly and have to be restarted.
