If I get a text from certain contacts it comes from a different number without a reply box, I have to open the contact and reply ?

They are the same numbers they have had for years.

Porting a number means you take the same number from one network to another. Basically, changing phone company but not changing your number.

No they haven't changed networks , I Called into my EE shop today and they ran a diagnostic on the phone and it was fine, they were baffled as to why this was happening.

I'm not too sure either :smileyconfused:. Do you experience the same issue if you put your SIM card into another phone? Does it always happen with the same contacts or can it be anyone?

No issues when I put sim in another phone, only happened when I swapped sims to this phone

@WavyDavy1 do the contacts in your phone have multiple numbers associated with them? Was your previous phone an iPhone?

They only have 1 number and yes my previous phone was an iPhone

OK, I wonder if it was to do with iMessage. Do you know if the senders are using iPhones?

If so, then you may need to disable iMessage on your iPhone. iMessage may still think your number is associated with an iPhone and could be trying to send you an iMessage, realising it can't then sending it as a text.

I have already disabled iMessage and the phones they have are Xperia as well

At this point, I recommend you try a software repair using Xperia Companion. If it is still happening after that, it has to be something network related.
