I have recently started having a problem with the touch screen on my Xperia XZ.

On my home screen and within web pages and apps I seem to have a dead zone about 2 thirds of the way down my screen (I can neither press any links in that zone or drop any icons past it on the home screen) yet when i run the touch screen test within the support diagnostics it seems to be working perfectly so basically im stumped ..... I have done a factory reset but to no avail

My wits end is definitely within view

that seems to be the case although i dont understand how it can work perfectly within the diagnostics but not at any other time

Regarding the diagnostic test, it is NOT very accurate because it shows a thick drawing under your finger and you will not see dead zones... However if you go to the engineering menu: *#*#7378423#*#* and under service test, you will find the touch screen test that uses a fine line for drawing, that will allow you to see imperfections on the hardware better.
