Notification bar states there is an update, but Software update reports device is up to date

Hello,

My Xperia XZ Dual (F8332 / Build 39.2.A.0.386) started showing an available software update about 12 hours ago. When tap it to go to the download screen, the Software update app seems to sync and state that my device is up to date. I've tried this over wifi, over my data network, and connected via cable to the latest version of XC for Windows. All report that my device is up to date, but the notification won't go away. Is there any way to either get the update or make the notification go away?

Hi @DocLaRock,

Welcome to the community.

Try this. Go to Settings > Apps > 3 dots > Show System > Software update > Storage > Clear Data, then restart the phone.

@CameronT Thanks for replying! I tried that, and that cleared the notification after a reboot, but it came back about 2 minutes later.

@CameronT, any other thoughts on this? Is the version of the software noted above the most recent available for the F8332, or is there an update available that is simply refusing to install?

By way of an update here, today Software Update patched me up with the February Security updates. I rebooted, still had the software update notification, cleared the app data storage again, rebooted again, and still have the notification (but no update in the update center).

I bought a New xperia xz and ı installed marshmallow but nougat wasn't install. Because Phone said your Phone is up to date. Why I amnot taking nougat?

Update to Nougat is dependant basically upon your region & your sim card operator

For two weeks my phone is telling me that there is a system update available. But if I try to update there comes the message that the system is up-to-date. For two days now the phone continiously tries to download an update. What is wrong? How can I fix it?

Hello,

My Xperia XZ has a notification to update the system. Ive done this 5 times in a row now, dowload update, run update, restart X 5 times and every time the notification comes back.

What is happening? How can I get my phone to realise I am fully updated???

The fastest way to update your phone is to connect your phone to a PC/Mac with Xperia Companion installed. This way you can have the latest available firmware in one single download and install. By using OTA (Over-the-air) update on your phone you'll get all the pending updates one by one.

Hello @johnkeane440,

Go to Settings/Apps/Software update/Storage and press CLEAR CACHE or go to Settings/Apps/Software update and press FORCE STOP. This may help or at least will temporary remove the the icon from notification bar untill the next restart (or may be until you receive system update for newer version)

Hi,

I still have the notification after upgrading to the latest version 41.2.A.2.199.

This is really annoying...

I cleared the Cache of the application 'Software update' but no success.

Shall I erase the data linked to the application?

How can I get rid of it?
