game lag and pause state

hi i am having the same problem with my xperia arc s which i recently bought, one week!! and yet as i start playing a game i got lag and game when to pause state, i have check my OS version which is the latest one. so i am still wondering where is this issue coming. can anyone help me on this?

Phone OS version : Gingerbread 2.3.4

Kernel version:2.6.32.9

Build:4.0.2.A.0.42

do you have a taskiller installed in your phone?

was the game from the market or is it an emulator?

are you running other heavy apps in the backgroun?

yes i got a task killer on, and this problem applies for all my games from market and other, games from emulator works fine

the problem might be the taskkiller, you don't need the taskiller, it was needed before but now a days, it's not necessary, it drains battery and makes the phone act up.

did this happened before the update?

it was already 2.3.4 when i bought the phone, is it necessary to use "chainfire 3D" to play these games? let me give a try uninstalling taskiller

you have to uninstall it -> turn off your phone -> take the battery out -> press and hold the power button for 5 seconds -> put the battery back on -> try again

taskillers might stop some parts of the OS that are needed, or sometimes it stop certain extra permissions that a game needs or wants to use

How to install it

You need to

go to settings -> applications -> check unknown sources

download IO File Manager

download the backup & restore app, transfer it to your SD card, use OI file manager to find it -> tap on it -> install it

Contacts

just to play it safe sync your contacts w/ google if you haven't already

open your phonebook

press MENU button -> tap on Send Contacts -> select all -> send it to your email

on your computer

-> download the file -> go to your gmail -> click on contacts -> click on more actions -> on the drop down menu click on "import" -> choose the file -> and click import

Apps

Don't worry so much about backing up your apps

on your computer go to

market.android.com -> log in -> click on My Library -> and send all your apps to your phone

SMS/MMS

if you don't want to use the backup & restore app then

Install "backup SMS" to back up your SMS and MMS to your Gmail

backup all your files by following uliwooly's suggestion..

cant you guys force close few apps like fb n other memory eating apps for the time you play the game ???

I'm not sure if I understand exactly the problem which the OP is having as his post is not so clear. However, I think I am having similar problems with games on my Xperia Pro on 4.0.2.A.0.58. Games like Asphalt 6 will sporadically and randomly enter the pause menu at times. Other times the game runs buttery smooth and is very enjoyable. (Anyone else here tried Asphalt 6? It's a great game otherwise!)

I have tried using Watchdog to find suspect background processes that have been interfering, and have uninstalled many apps (including watchdog itself), but no luck. Actually, there was a period of a week or so where the game would run absolutely flawlessly - this coincided with updates to Facebook, Google Maps and the Google Search widget - unforunately upon rebooting my phone the problems returned.

I tried removing these apps and their updates but no difference. I suspect that perhaps the background processes did not start on one of these apps until I restarted my phone so that's why I had a period with no problems. Anyway, Facebook, Google Maps and McAfee are my main suspects - unfortunately it is not possible to stop Facebook's background services as they just restart automatically (grrrrrrr Google - this is the one thing about Android that annoys me the most!). I am going to root my phone today to see if I can get to the source of this problem...

You can't close Facebook's background services - they only restart themselves again! On top of that, SE has made it so we can't remove Facebook without rooting! :@

he meant that , sometimes facebook consumes 50 mb of the ram , so killing it fress up the ram and even when it restarts it takes around 5-7 mb ,

and like 100rabh , i also do this

well i dont play games that much but still it works..

Ah, I see - thanks for clarifying what he meant. I just killed facebook and then deleted the app data for all 5 of the Facebook processes and now it is down to using only 3MB.

Asphalt is now playable again, and Brothers in Arms 2 is now playable for the first time! Just tried Frontline Commando and works too!

... Oops, spoke too soon - Asphalt pausing again (though not as bad as before). Just uninstalled McAfee and seems to be smooth now but time will tell...

Anyway, I think this is definitely a RAM issue, and I don't think it is specific to any one background process. I'm going to root and remove Video Unlimited, Timescape etc. and then see if that frees up enough so I can still use McAfee and Facebook.

well yes indeed its lack of ram...

i did not faced any problem but with this 0.42 update....

before that everything used to run smooth..
