TXT Ck13i : E-mail

I succeeded to read my mails via POP3 port 110, no problems.

But I can't send any mail through SMTP port 25?

I use the same settings as on my computer but the phone always give me an error.

It's SMTP + server address + no verification.

Try using port 2525, 587 and 465, and see if any of these work. Otherwise, try changing the Encryption setting between SSL,TLS and No encryption and/or the SMTP Authentication setting.

Is this a Hotmail account?

Port 25 works fine for my computer, port 587 also does it well. But not with the phone...

It is not gmail/hotmail, just a regular mail account from my provider.

It's Telenet (Mechelen, Belgium) : the smtp server address is uit.telenet.be.

Both ports 25 and 587 seem to be open (I can use them with my computer but not with the phone)...

I tried all possible combinations, very strange.

So incoming mail: no problem but outgoing won't work!

My computer is connected via utp ethernet to my (simplistic) router.

I also tried to disable the lan and enable the wireless mode : sending mail works fine through

port 25 with that server, so it's not the wireless part.

But not with the phone

You may need to set up your outgoing server according to your mobile provider's SMTP settings, rather than your email provider's settings--this is sometimes necessary with email clients.

That's not really logical. So I can read mails through wifi but not send ??? I don't use any mobile connexion it's too expensive here in Belgium.

Yes you're right, it doesn't make sense over wifi, so I can only suggest you contact your email provider and ask them for the correct SMTP settings.

What a weird concept design... if it is possible to read mails from a mail server with wifi it shouldn't be that difficult to send mails too, not?

I hope there will be some kind of a firmware update in the future to solve this issue...

Well you can still try running the SE update service to update or re-install the software and see if that helps.

I already tried this but that won't work too. I also wonder what precautions I must do before upgrading?

I read here on the forum that everything is lost after an update?

It seems also that some code should be entered (not the PIN)?

No you don't need a code, but an update will wipe the phone memory, so you need to back it up on PC/PC companion/memory card beforehand.

I can save my own files (ringtones, images) but it is not possbile to save the most important: contacts. And what about the embedded system files (sony ringtones, images, locked applications)? Do they remain on the phone?

You should be able to save the contacts on the SIM card and/or the memory card (if your phone allows this), as these are not affected by the update; only the phone memory is wiped.Any embedded/protected files will be re-installed when updating or re-installing the software.

Today I upgraded my Ck13i to the latest R5AA032 firmware and... sending mails works now!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Before upgrading I removed my sim card. First it didn't work because I used the power button instead of the C button :smileyblush:...

But now : everything works fine!

Allthough it is still not possible to use the phone as a modem i.e. for use with my phone explorer...

please check how works with Gmail

before you can use email functions, you need to restart phone.
