I see in options for screen to turn off maximum is 30 minutes..

I want to use an app for time lapse video but when screen times out the app stops.

Is there another setting in the phone somewhere that can keep the screen on or will I have to use

another app to keep the screen on???

yeah, you'll have to get another app.

You can setup a shortcut to turn the screen permanent on.

Being my first android device the amount of widgets contained in that app

scares me and would confuse me no end..

Really what I am after is an app that maybe I can assign the never turn off screen while I am using a particular app.

Can't think of an easier way to explain...

I have looked at a few but there are so many.

There IS a way to do that, but it costs, and the app required isn't the most user friendly.

I use an app called Tasker, which costs around £4 in theUK

Simply put, this allows you to set tasks which run depending on the context - the context can be location, time, app etc.

You could set it up that when you open that particular app, it automatically changes the screen timeout.

I currently have Tasker doing a number of things:

when i get home, it uses the location (gathered from the local cell towers) to reduce the ring/notification volume and turn on wifi
it disables all data connections between 1am & 6am (to save battery)
restarts my phone at 5am, and ensures certain apps are restarted immediately
When charging, sets the screen to never timeout

as I said, its not particularly user friendly, but once you get the hang of it, its pretty powerful.

the developer also provides a 7 day trial, available from his website.
