Hi,

I've just spent an hour or so re-installing both Update Service and PCC on several different computers, one of them was recently formatted. Tried with both XP and Windows7, even changed the USB cable i'm using.

Nothing worked - after connecting the USB cable (while back is pressed) i still get a blinking red light instead of green light.

I was thinking maybe prototype devices have a different sequence to enter flash mode, or maybe there's another way to flash a bricked device.

Please, can anyone help?

Someone from Sony Ericsson devices group maybe?

Thanks

That's another weird thing - when i plug in the charger it has the same blinking red. So i take out the battery, and put it back in. Only then the light is solid green, but after a while it goes back to being blinking red.

If blinking red means the battery is not charging or is dead, and the phone is bricked, how am i suppose to charged the battery?

FYI, i already tried leaving the phone in the charger for the night (and it was blinking red all that time).

That's why i left it all night and assumed it would be fully charged in the morning.

While having it plugged in to the charger, i was reminded by another weird thing - after a while when it is plugged, there's an icon of X10 with exclamation mark in a triangle.

I'm guessing this means the device tried to boot while charging and failed.

Flashtool seem to be using Update Service facilities to flash the device. I tried it and it behaves the same.

As for charging the phone, here is the behavior:

When charger is plugged, the red light blinks

After a couple of minutes it shows some weird looking screen with progress bar and dots below an icon of a phone. At this point the red light stops.

The progress bar advances a little, and then the phone with exclamation mark inside a triangle appears.

After a couple of minutes with this display (i don't know how much because it looks like its forever) the phone does this again.

To my point a view it looks like there's nothing wrong with the hardware, just need to re-flash it.

But i can't enter flash mode:smileyconfused: (in the youtube video it looks so simple, and it's so frustrating).

Could it be that the flash mode wont turn on until the device "knows" it is charged more than 50%, and it will never "know" that because some charging startup sequence (described above) wont work?

If so, is there a way to factory reset the device?

ag4751

is quite familiar with updating w/o a computer but this is what he said

Flashing a Custom rom or even an SE update from XDA without a USB can be done provided you already have a rooted phone with xrecovery on it, just take the SD card out of the phone put it in your PC, download the rom from XDA and copy it to a folder on the SD Card, put the card back into the phone boot into xrecovery and install it, job done.

so I don't think it will work here
