topic Xperia Pro, keyboard backlight issue on silver model in XPERIA archive

This issue has been raised before on the Xperia mini boards but I can't see anything specific to the Pro, so thought it should be raised. AFAIK it affects only the silver model.

The slide out keyboard is impossible to read under many internal lighting situations because the keyboard backlight comes on and the whole thing looks like a white board. Neither I nor the Mini complaints previously have had any joy with Sony - they are not interested in it. Sad, as it's a grerat phone otherwise. It only needs an option to switch it on or off. No apps to resolve it either as far as I can see; the earlier Dark Keys seems to have blocked by later software updates.

There's no setting to this (as you already are aware of) for the time being and I cannot answer if this is something that will be added or not. What I can say is that I will forward your post as feedback to our designers.

I would like to push the topic again, because I'm facing exactly the same troubles with my white XPeria mini pro.

In daylight and artificial light surroundings it can be very hard to read while the backlight is on.

There are only two solutions I see:

- Give the phone back - which would be a pity because I like it...

- Root it and losse the warranty. For rooted phones there are Apps to switch it off in the Play store...

None of them are what I want to do.

Couldn't one of the Sony software developers write a sipmle App to manually switch it on or off? This would help a lot...

And for the future maybe consider switching it off using the ambient light sensor....

Would be really great (and sounds like no big deal to me...)
