Hi,

My Arc (absolutely fantastic phone up until this point!) appears to have developed a fault, whereby no-one can hear me. Not the greatest fault for a phone to develop!!

The phone itself has not been dropped or phyiscally damaged in any way.

Basically, when I call people, or they call me, I can hear my own voice echoing through the phone and out of its own earpiece, but the other party cannot hear a word I say. If I mute the phone, then the general background hiss at the other end stops. I've also tried setting the phone to speaker, but people still cannot hear me.

I have tried doing a settings reset, and then reluctantly, a full factory reset on the phone, but I still have the same problem.

If I use the speech recognition for navigation, I can see the mic levels moving up and down when I talk, but the phone never registers that I've spoken, and just remains on the speech input screen.

At first I thought it would be a software fault, so have tried fully removed the battery, and its only since I've done the full factory reset that I've grasped the seriousness of the fault.

Now, I have no insurance on this phone with my carrier, but assume that I can get this swapped under warranty if I take it a service centre and they deem it to be a technical fault with the phone? Before I get to this stage, is there any other troubleshooting steps that I could perform? It says that there are two MIC's on this phone, can I try and invoke the other MIC instead or is that simply for echo cancellation... could something have gone wrong with this feature? Can i test it by disabling it in any way?

Thanks in advance!

I've found some information online regarding fixing this issue, (I use Kaspersky, so assume this is at fault) and will follow that later today... I'll let you know how it goes.

I had already done a full factory reset, so I had to back up my msgs, contacts, apps etc, anyway.

Thanks

LT18A

1- when the phone sets for a while, someone calls me, i can hear them but they won't hear me.

2- i have done a factory reset and deleted everything... Problem not solved

3 - I have repaired the phone using SE update service, as companion pc was having wininit.exe issues, it fixed the problem, HOWEVER, after downloading couple of applications, the phone started doing the same problem. starting to think that perhaps a certain app is causing it.

4- i have repaired the phone for the second time and i am not downloading any apps to see if the phone will develope the same ( no one can hear me, when recieving a call) ...

i have tried the suggestions mic is fine, when i make calls, its fine its only when recieving a call i am screwed. oh and i have never ever dropped this phone... it has to be some sofware issues please if anyonenknows something or experiencing the same problem, say something.

oh and another thing, when you reset or repair what sucks is you have to enter At&t internet setting manually, its kinda frustrating
