I have had my X10 Mini for a reasonable amount of time when I decided to update it with the Update Service that I had downloaded from Sony Ericsson. When I did this, it reset all my internal memory, making me lose my notes, calendar, android apps, google setup, and settings. Even when I tried backup and restore, it didn't work. Is there any way to recover this lost data?

If you did create a backup prior to updating the phone you should be able to restore it. If the B&R app however says it was unable to restore certain categories it might be that there occurred a problem when the backup file was created. You can try to restore these categories one by one and see if this helps. If not, it's unfortunately not possible.
