Hehe.

Weeeelll, that obviously shook them up a little bit and then they put me on a hold for a few minutes. After that, they told me to write them a written complaint and they will let me know as soon as possible.

I wonder what will be their response, and I promise I'll also post it here.

Hello Johan!

I believe you will be reading this soon, so I would like to have an official word from someone who actually understands what he is reading and writing (you).

I contacted SE in my native language (Croatian), but got an answer from some Hungarian gal who obviously:

- doesn't understand a word I am saying or

- just wanted to get rid of me.

My question is: Do you have the NCK codes for phones you are selling, since many internet sites and one person in my town are telling me they can get those code for removing SIM locks from MANUFACTURER in return (but of course) for money.

My network carrier acts stupidly and tells me he doesn't have those codes, and cannot get them, which leads me to think they forcibly want me to stay in their network.

In some contries that's highly prohibited and restricted (putting and not removing SIM lock after some time), but I already paid that cell phone out and am more than 1 year in that network with that exact cell phone (24 months contract is now over).

Who has that codes and where can I obtain them, since my network carrier alledegly doesn't have those? Someone HAS to have them, and I am somehow convinced manufacturer holds the answer, if not the keys, even though NCK is bound to IMEI and manufacturer, in my humble opinion, should have it. Am I right or am I missing something?

I really wouldn't want to change software and flash my phone, and would not like to pay if I don't have to; but I also doesn't understand why there is so much complications when one wants to get that code?

Without that code, it's like I am not free, and in one point, I am not, as long as I am using that phone with that cursed SIM lock.

Thank you in advance for your replies!

I'm very surprised that your network refuses to give you the unlocking code after all this time, as they are the ones that supply them, irrespective of whether they have to refer to the manufacturer before they do so.Manufacturers do not supply unlocking codes,as far as I know. Here in the UK, networks will give you the code, usually for a price, providing you fulfill certain conditions, which vary with each network.Doesn't your network have a set of conditions you need to fulfill in order to give you the code? By conditions I mean things like how long you've been using the phone, how long has the handset been registered with the network, how much credit you've used, etc.If you meet those conditions, then the network should supply the unlocking code and obtain it from whoever has it.

And by the way, re-flashing your phone with a different software version will not remove the network lock.In the worst case and depending on which phone you have, you could use Omnius or Davinci software to permanently unlock your phone, although this would invalidate any warranty you may still have on the phone.

No conditions or whatsoever. I've been all sort of terms of agreement upon signing contract and there was not anything about unlocking phone. Not even a word.

I am their postpaid customer for 5 years and I've got this phone for 14 months now.

Also, when I said re-flashing, I was thinking of swapping my current firmware with the one of already unlocked Elm, but that's the last option.

On the other hand, I already tried Omnia and Davinci, but unsuccessfully because my phone has CID80.

I tried even personally talking to the official servicers, but they offered me only changing the firmware, and were also unable to get the codes.

I have no intension of buying a "box" to read out the code, as it has $80+ price and makes this one-time unlock highly expensive.

However, one local shop and one of the services mentioned above offered me (of course, for some additional money) getting the NCK code (just with having my IMEI and S/N), but it costs almost 35% of it's actual price, making it kinda ridiculous.

I am very frustrated with this outrageous situation, and what's more, I found out that recently my network carrier screwed something up with Hazels they were selling and are giving away NCK codes for free as they "got it from somewhere". Darn they!!

I sympathise with your situation and it seems that contacting SE and explaining the circumstances to them may lead to a successful outcome, as there is no real excuse for your network to fail to give you the unlocking code. For this reason, I suggest you send a private message to one of the SE moderators on this forum and take it from there.

I'm really sorry if you have been met in a non service minded way by one of our local support teams. Did you get any ticket number from the agent you were talking to? That would help me forwarding feedback about this to responsible's.

I'm not 100% sure, but I know that in general (and on the Nordic market were I'm sitting) it's always the network operators that provides the NCK code for unlocking network locks.

And if there should be any problems for the network operator to provide you with this code in any way, they have their own contact person within Sony Ericsson that can help them sort it out.

So, I suggest that you raise this question again with your network operator and have them provide you with the NCK code. If you have fulfilled your terms of condition regarding the network lock and unlocking the phone from the network. But as it seems to me, this should not be any problem for you.

you are very confused.. it is a very simple concept.. most providers wont provide unlock codes since they dont want to loose their customers. In many countries is illegal while in some service providers are allowed to provide the unlock codes. if you still need to unlock your phone you can contact other online providers like TheUnlockarena.com who provide the unlock codes. they will provide you the unlock codes and you can unlock your phone.
