Sony x10i USB Connection Problem

I've bought my x10i at January 2011, it works fine all the time. However, when I tried to connect it to my laptop via USB cable it doesn't work! It still can charging the battery but it just can't detect the USB connection. At the same time, the charging will delay like for 5-10 seconds then only the front light will have yellow light and show it's charging. I've send it to the shop for checking but they said the phone's USB port is fine. They can't even figure it out what's the problem of my phone. Can;t connect to laptop mean there will be trouble on install the apps as well as run PC Companion. This problem make me become harder to move my file in SD card cause it can;t connect to the laptop. Anyone had experience like this before? Any solution? Can anyone help me to solve this problem? Thanks.

Hi, check the following .... goto Settings>Applications>Development, make sure that USB debugging is UNTICK.

Have you tried connecting to another PC/Lap or another USB port? As you mentioned that you are able to charge, I don't think there is anything wrong with both your phone USB port or the USB cable.

Ya,I've tried to connect it by using another USB Cable and also to another laptop/PC as well...But it still not working. The phone shop that I look for help also told me that they never met this kind of problem too. They say maybe is the software problem but can't confirm me.

You may try Suze's suggestion. If your are still unable to resolve the issue, I suggest performing a Factory Data Reset. This will erase your phone memory completely (SD Card not affected), do remember to backup. Good luck.

Goto Settings>Privacy>Factory data reset.

It will be easier to try this

Uninstall PC Companion from your laptop, download and install SE Update Service from here

http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/support/mobilephones/downloads/subject/updateservice/xperiax10?cc=gb&lc=en

Once it is installed, run the program on your PC once its check for updates it usually closes so start it again

once its ready then connect your phone to your PC with the USB and make sure it detects your phone,

It should reinstall the correct drivers.

Now disconnect your phone and download and reinstall PC Companion from here

then run PC Companion, reconnect your phone, this should fix it, don't forget to mount the SD Card.

Having USB Debugging ticked or unticked will not make any difference to PC Companion working.

hi suze

i downloaded "astro file manager" for my x10a based on an advice you had giving sombody on the forum. i must admit i do like the UI, very nicely done and i guess you are very familiar with the "astro file manager". i do have a couple of questions that i need help with though:

1) on the first snapshot of the astro file manager displayed on the market, i see what appears to be a film wheel used as an icon and also a couple of opened brown boxes with files sticken out of them. questions is, how do i get these nice icons to show up on my astro homepage?

2) there are seven "white" folders on the homepage and i'm wondering if i can creat a folder and put them in, or will that affect the directory?

3) when you touch certain files (for example...new backup) you get a msg saying "file type sbf not found" what does that mean?

4) i'm seing a whole bunch of pictures that i deleted from my phone before, showing up again as cache...files. can i delete these files?

5) if i move files around (put them in folders) or change the names of picture files and i should decied to uninstall astro at a latter stage, will there be a problem with the phone's directory recognising these files?

6) and lastly, i see some folders on the homepage that something tells me should be left alone. if it's not too much to ask, can you just list the folders on homepage that should be left alone?

1) just open the file manager -> press MENU -> view -> change view -> Icons

2) you can create folders either using this or any other file manager, or you can mount your phone to a computer and add folders, it shouldn't affect anything

4) this is like on the PC you go to temporary files, or if you download files from your email they usually are saved on the download folder, but for some odd reason yahoo download them to the root of the SD card, just long press the file and then delete

5) you can change the name of the pictures, I wouldn't move or change the name of any other files that were pre-installed

6) you can install a new empty SD card and format it and see which folders are there, and then just delete the rest, remember there are folders that are created by certain apps

I m using xperia X10i,Recenlty my charger jack has been replced becaz it was not wokring, after replacing the same charginng is now. but i m not able to coneect the phone through Laptop\Desktop....promt of charging & USB mode is not coming...pls suggest what is issue ....
