Xperia Arc + MW 600 Bluetooth Headset

I bought the Sony Ericsson Arc and Sony Ericsson MW 600 Bluetooth Headset.

The MW 600 dosent show song title when using the music player.
The MW 600 dosent show Contact name when reciving a call.

Its to bad because the Arc and MW 600 headset is awesome. Very good sound qulity.
Is there a solution or a update?

There isn't a solution for this. It's a compatibility issue between Android devices and the headset.

There is no mention of a planned update at this time.

The Live View is a bluetooth device that can show all that information, so the Android device can send such info via bluetooth, sooo you have to do something about this annoying thing!

Hey SE,

please get the ID3 info issue resolved soon on your android devices including the arc. If the problem is linked to google/android you still should be able to sort this out yourself when customizing android for your phones.

I have a problem when use MW600 to talk to my friends. My friends cannot hear me clearly. Sometimes my voice id lost. I try another BT the same promblem still. Is it Arc problem? Hardware or software?

Same problem. I have a bluetooth Jabra BT2035. Especially when the other side makes noise (either speaks or is in a car) my speech is muted. When the other side speaks you can wait for him/her to stop talking, but when the other side is in the car, using a headset on the Arc is not possible. I've heard others with the same problem i.r.t. to the Arc. It worked with the same headset on other SE phones.

Hi I have the same problem just with the SE VH410 heasset

Also after a while it disconnects the microphone to the phoene .. but i can still heare the person i am talking ti in the headset ... found at way to cheat it back to normal ... switching to speaker (on the phone and back to the headset) but still annoing problem.

I use the Arc with an MW-600 and do not have this particular issue. i do have the lack of displayed data on the headset, however this is due to incompatible bluetooth profiles and is unlikely to change. In regards to the issue you are facing I would strongly advise running a repair via PC Companion.

I've just purchased MW600 because of these features only to learn that it doesn't work in their own brand phones with android. I understand at some point that this is not SE's fault since the AVRCP protocol is part of Android OS itself but SE must warn their customers about these issues, but instead, they put MW600 as full compatible accesory for a lot of android phones (including mine) and none of android phones have AVRCP 1.3 profile enabled. This makes me think about a kind of misleading adversiting. I have searched several sites trying to get a workaround with this and I found two interesting things.

One of them is that the popular Android mod Cyanogen 7.1 does support AVRCP 1.3 (it's funny that an unofficial OS does have this feature). I just don't want to install this modded OS to my phone because that version still lacks hdmi, radio and bravia engine support for my Xperia Arc.

The second one is that the official developers of the bluetooth stack used in Android (Called BlueZ) have already enabled AVRCP 1.3 in the bluetooth stack. (See http://www.politreco.com/2011/10/avrcp-1-3-on-bluez/). The problem here is to know when will Android developers will integrate the new BT stack into Android, since it seems to be missing in Ice Cream Sandwich. (Side note: iOS5 already supports AVRCP 1.3).

I will be a lot optimistic: Thinking in the fact that SE have several extra features in their current version of Android (2.3.4) which Android itself are just including in 4.0, maybe Sony will include in their custom ver of Android 4.0 the AVRCP 1.3 support to enable MW600 nice features?. I'd wish it comes true.

I had a MW600 w/ my Xperia S and AVRCP 1.3 isn't supported... And maybe will not forever!

Sony hotline send me an email :

Nous vous confirmons la compatibilité partielle de l'accessoire avec le Sony Xperia™ S.

Il n'y aura pas de mise à jour en ce sens.

In English : there is not update planned for the compatibility.

AVRCP 1.3 is needed by several BT headset for trackID and several cars! All others Android Phones are compatible AVRCP 1.3 (Galaxy SII, HTC Sensation...) and not Xperia S however Ericsson create the BT protocol! Amazing...

Sony, can you confirm that? I see 2 major problems on Xperia S :

- no support of AVRCP 1.3

- no correct support for special characters for French language for SMS : ç ê ô...

@ Sam, But I heard that MW600s(The newer version of MW600) works on Xperia from 2011 so why not MW600!!. Correct me for I am wrong.

Update: I recently bought Xperia S LT26 and I found that it still doesn't have AVRCP 1.3 Enabled. Well, I think I was too optimistic because this model also has ICS but reading forums all over the internet it seems google is stuck with AVRCP 1.0 even with JellyBean out there. But other manufacturers like Samsung and Motorola have put support to AVRCP 1.3 on their phones so this is a proof that this is not impossible or difficult and it's not neccesary to wait for google to put support for that. Sony also uses custom ROMs in their phones so why not to add this useful feature to their phones?. Sony sells accessories claiming it can show track and artist info in the display and it works in devices like iPods, iPhones, Galaxy S3, Razr, etc but it is very funny that it won't work in their own products!!!. As I wrote in the original post this is just misleading advertising. If I buy a product, I'm expecting that at least it works with another products of the same brand. Or maybe the solution is to put a warning in the product boxes : "This product is incompatible with Sony products, you must use a third party device to use the listed features"

Same problem here, I have Xperia Arc and MW600, I've been using this pair of device for a year now, but I cannot get the song title and caller id on the headsets display.

Sometimes i feel let down, because the same works well with samsung devices which my friends have with all Idv3 tags and caller id on the headsets display, the only thing is that they need to install Smart Connect app on their Samsung devices.

I did the same by installing smart connect, but the problem still annoys me...
