I am facing same problem. When I play a song in Walkman it has good volume but when I set that track or that matter any track as ringtone, the volume is much lower when the phone rings.

Check you don't have increasing volume turned on in sound settings for calls.
Also turn on dynamic normaliser

sound is very subjective, I suggest you go to a sony service center and compare it with another Xperia X unit,. Local support

If it's an Xperia device, you can usually find the model under Settings > About phone > Model number.

In general, if you want to increase the ring tone volume, try raising the volume with the physical volume buttons on the side of your device.

Disappointed! Sony Xperia X

This evening I've purchased a Sony Xperia X £400. I am SO disappointed with the ringtone volume level and the overall sound - it is WAY too low! I can't hear it ring when I place in m handbag! I am returning the phone for a refund tomorrow. I have been into the settings and set it to maximum along with using the side of the phone and it sounds tinny and quiet.

Has anyone else experienced this? I have a Sony Xperia Z3 and the volume is excellent! The only reason I have bought this X phone today os because I dropped my Z3 and the screen smashed.

Hi Emir,

The model is Xperia X but specifically F5121. I too have the bug(?) that ringtones are comparably low against a normal music/walkman sound level. I also noticed that hands free sound level is low also...

I'd be glad to hear any advise or at least be good to know if is a known issue to be solved with a coming patch software update.

Thanks,

Eyup

I also have same issue Model F5121 Android 6.0.1 Build number 34.0.A.2.292

Notificication and ringtone are very low and handset volume is set to high. Only 1 ringtone is good enough to be able to hear it have not found any notification to be hearable out of the stock ones. Though playing music sound is ok. Also I have enable ClearAudio+ which feels it makes a bit of diffrence. Keyboard sound (whatever is the default level) is higher than ringtone and notification sound.

Coming from an M5 feels very weird sound wise.
