Battery drain issue

Hi everyone. I have SE Xperia Arc LT15i phone with OS Android 2.3.2. After the Google Maps has been updated from market, the battery's % of charge began to come to an end very quickly, about 20 % during a hour and a half. Before this update i didn't have this problem. I just uninstall the latest update of Google Maps and restart the phone, and battey discharge became normally again. This trouble is not only for me, also the most users of Xperia Arc from 4pda.ru have the same issue. I sent this letter to Google's support too, and waiting for an answer with impatience. Strange, so this literally only occurs when you have the latest version of Google Maps installed? I haven't heard of this before but I will definitely monitor it to see if any solutions crop up that do not require you to downgrade the version of Google Maps you are using. Let me know if you hear anything back from Google regarding this too.

what if you downgrade google maps, then re-update it, turn off/on your phone, at least that works on the X10 sometimes

funny thing. with the same amount of app usage, i notice my battery life is running out faster and faster by the day. for example yesterday it last ard 22 hours, and tday by 17 hours i had to recharge it.

Same here in Germany. I have an Arc from o2 Germany and the same issue. Hardreset = Good Batt. life (1%/hr), after a while and updating Google Maps goes to 5-6%/hr without using it. Now i have uninstalled the update and battery life is good again (unplugged it 2 hrs ago and its still at 100%). Something seems to be wrong with the update.

Hi,

I found a weird solution to the "battery-empty-after-idle-night"-problem. First I thought it had something to do with the microSD-card I inserted later. I found out that this was an problem, but not the problem. The memorycard I used was broken. With a new one the energy consumption of the phone was lower. But the issue wasn't solved yet.

The SOLUTION is to remove the charger from the phone with switched on disply only (keylock turned off) and to reboot afterwards. Now I got 96% of battery life after one night instead of fifty-something. It also solves the heating up problem.

I'm not sure wether this problem is with the SE Launcher or with Gingerbread, but I hope this helps to find a solution and to generate an update ^^.

I've got an LT15i without branding or custom ROM from Germany...

Hello all, I've experienced good and bad battery performance - if the phone is running properly it should only loose approx 3% overnight.

Last night i lost 50% - this is due to unwanted apps starting up & using wi-fi. The phone was 100% charged before going to bed. and there were only standard system apps running.

When I got up this morning the power was down to 48% - when I checked SETTINGS>APPLICATIONS>RUNNING SERVICES. I found all sorts of apps running which I hadn't started. (how do these activate themselves?)

1) Media Server

2) StoreFront (vodafone's own Shi* - which I cannot remove - any ideas for a simple method?)

3) 360 Shop (vodafone's own shi* again)

4) sony ericson sync

5) music

i can cope with the vodafone software being on the phone - but activating itself and using wi-fi in the night is taking the p*ss. Also why have the other apps started ??

the interim solution I have is using Advanced Task Killer set on auto kill on 30 minute intervals - but shouldn't really have to.

Also, please be aware that when you charge your phone - this often starts apps - in my case they are apps that use wi-fi - have a look at the running services before putting the phone on charge - then check it again whilst on charge. I don't know why this happens either, but i get my phone running nicely - and then a charge up starts unwanted apps.

Right - got that off my chest - think you get the idea - bad battery performance = background apps using wi-fi etc.

Hi all, from Japan.

Many arc users in Japan has experienced the battery issues and sudden reboot, and they are dissatisfied with that.

They have said that their arc keep rebooting by themselves with extraordinary and rapid battery drain.

However, they also are aware that battery power wasn't undrained and apparent reduction on screen.

On the other hand, NTT Docomo, telecomunications company and arc agent in Japan, claim that no serious issues are reported.

Many users in Japan thinks that arc have a problem with the battery monitoring system, and that is caused reboot.

In this mornig, my arc had sudden reboot, at the same time, battery level on the screen goes from 100% to 68% within few minutes.

Then battery level on the screen wild swung throughout the day.

In the summerm, Ericsson will release new one of arc fimily, called "acro".

If acro have same issue, Japanese users would away with dissapointment.

So Ericsson should find out the reasons and fix the glitch with that.

Hi.

Yes it is weird how you found out this "solution", but I have just done this last evening and here 8 hours later when I wake up 1% is used. Last night it lost around 40%.

Even with disabled WiFi, GPS and airplane condition it use a lot os standby energy. And that is strange. I also have monitored that it looks like it start up applications by it self and have also wondered whi Maps is started.

How did you found out about SD card had influence on the battery. Old experience or you just changed it to see?

I didn't really find the "diplay-and-reboot-thing" out by myself, but I read something about a similar problem with X10. I tried it and it helped.

But the SD-thing was my idea, because I didn't use the SD from SE that was in the package. I used an Kingston class 6 16GB I bought seperate. At first I had no idea how to solve the problem an as this was the only change I made by myself -> I change the memory card and power consumption wasn't that high anymore, though the problem still wasn't solved. I think the first memory card I used simply was broken.

for me my arc is getting 2 days after i drain the battery to 0% and then charge it all night . but here is a problem they said to my the battery will die if i keep doing like this . but it's cool to have the battery for 2 days on the arc

I just wait until the phone is charged to 100%, then I unlock the screen (just go to homescreen or main menu). After this I removed the micro-usb cable. With the cable removed I just restarted the phone...

I'm still not quite sure about this, but I charged it when the LED on the side of the phone flashes red. Don't wait till your battery is on 0% as this may damage it. There must be some power left...

Despite many arc users are pleading battery problems and rebooting, why doesn't Ericcson provide a comment on that.

Also, I don't see why Ericcson repeats the same failure despite there was similer problems on X10.

We need some advice as to how to handle this situation, and not only palliative procudure but also permanent measures from Ericsson as formal.
