Calibration is a process through which you completely discharge and then fully charge the battery. HOWEVER, doing this too often to Li Ion batteries is not recommended, as it affects their capacity:

As far as I know, it is not. But some recommend it, which means it is up to you to document on this and choose for yourself.

LIPOs are tricky but does not retain memory like ni-mh batteries, which have to be fully discharged to avoid early depletion.

You might fully discharge the battery once a month or more, but it is not really important.

What really matters is that you don't let the battery drop under 50% because the charge will be accounted as one full cycle: at that point let it discharge, then recharge.

The best use is to recharge to 100% everytime you can. Like: commuting to work, recharge, leave office, recharge, have breakfast, recharge, get back home, recharge. In this way you will spend more days before scoring a full charging cycle.

A really good quality LIPO should hold at least 80% of charge over 1000 cycles. Apple and Nokia used to be that way.
