Notification sounds can't be separated

I've just had my M4 repaired and software is now marshmallow. Since the repair I cannot have separate notification sounds for email, although I've set the sound in email settings, my phone just plays default notification sound.
Can anyone help

are you using preloaded ringtones or your own music?

Own music. Menu options give choice to use own music.
Prior to upgrade to marshmallow, I had separate notification sounds.

Music kept in music folder.
Everything is where it was before marshmallow was installed.

Hi @MalR, I'm sorry to hear about this.

If you select another preloaded notification sound, does that work or is it still playing the default notification when you receive an email?

If it still plays the default ringtone I'd recommend that you clear data for the Email application, this will remove any email account(s) you have added in the app so make sure you have the correct information at hand so you can add your account(s) again. To clear the data for the application go to Settings > Apps > Email > Storage > Clear data.

Tried this and doesn't work. Still plays default notification.

Added preload notification tone, that plays but not files from my music folder.
