Hi @sirs,

Sorry to hear that.

First of all, try pressing and holding the power and volume up buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds or until the phone vibrates or press and hold the OFF-button next to your SIM-card until the phone vibrates. Use a paperclip, pen or something else Then connect a charger again.

It might take about 30 minutes for the device to indicate that it is charging if it is completely discharged, during this period the display may remain black. Try charging your device for about 4 hours as it can take a while for a completely depleted battery to fully charge.

If possible, use a Sony original charger and USB-cable specifically intended for your device. Other chargers may be too weak or too strong as they may have a different electric current rating (mA).

Have you tried performing a software repair using Xperia Companion? If that doesn't work or didn't help then I suggest that your contact your Local support in order to have your device sent to an authorized service center.

Hi, I just wanted to contribute that I have a very similar problem and have tried many different solutions. For about 5 days now, my Xperia M4 hasn't been operating like it used to. First of all, it lost all wireless connectivity (wireless and bluetooth), and displayed only the same available WiFi networks whereever I went (which I had never seen or used before). At first, the phone would crash during the middle of browsing on Chrome and it would not restart completely. Most times, the phone would cycle through the "Sony" startup screen repeatedly without getting to the "Android" screen and the beginning animation. It took me a bit of research to figure out how to manually turn off the device (since the manuals that come with the phone are quite sparse on useful information when it comes to solving problems) with the Off button near the SD card. Since then, I have used to phone's menus to do a total reboot and since that didn't solve the problem either, I used the Sony Xperia Companion software to execute a complete a total overhaul including an upgrade to Android 6. However, the problems remain - bluetooth will not connect, WiFi is spotty and often requires a total reboot, and the phone crashes in the middle of being used whether it be looking at websites or streaming a song from YouTube.

I'm at my wit's end as none of the conventional approaches has resolved the issue. Any recommendations?

Hi @kdubachi i had that exact same problem apart from wireless connectivity ok id have a tiny problem with wifi but not that it really bothered methat much, i would have performed the sony xperia companion software to sort it out only i dont have a pc so i went to the EE shop were i bought the phone from and because it is still under warranty and they said it is stuck in a loop or it could be either a problem with the mother board or something to do with the software so i let them send it off for it to be fixed which ive been told could take anything up to 10 working days and they also said that there is no guarantee that it will not happen again which is a shame as its such a nice phone so hopefully ill get it back in good working order if not im demanding for a replacement as £130 is far to much money to loose just like that plus i most certainly cant afford trips back and forth to the shop plus for it to be fixed all the time, so my advice to you would be to take it back to were you bought it from if its still under warranty and ask them to sort it out for you good luck.

Thanks SIRS for your response.

I took my phone back to the place of purchase and they informed me that since I had tried Sony Companion and did the complete reboot, I had done everything that they would have recommended already. Ironically, when I went to the store, the phone worked perfectly. However, after I went to the market nearby the phone began to reboot/cycle/crash again so I was able to go back to the store and show them the problem. The store said that they could help me send it in to Sony for evaluation or I could do it myself, but either way I would probably not get a response very quickly. Luckily for me, I still had an old handset from a previous provider so the store gave me a SIM adapter and network information to make my old handset work on their network. Otherwise, I will be sending the M4 Aqua into Sony soon to get evaluated soon.

At least I don't think about the phone's problems anymore so I can focus on my real work and life again. Who knows if it'll be covered by warranty or not even though I've used it for only 7 months.

Thanks!

Your very welcome kdubachi if youve only had ur phone for 7months then itll still be in warranty as mine is but i dont know about your providers warranty as mine is with EE i got 2yrs with mine so it might be the same with yours just make sure you check everything and if it is still in warranty you most certainly wont have to pay and good luck i hope that they find the problem and fix it for you.
