Hi @yrfreeuser,

There is a setting under the Developer options in your tablet to set a preferred connection mode. First you need to enable the Developer options, go to Settings > About tablet > Tap build number until the message states that you are a developer, then go back to Settings > Press Developer options > Find Select USB Configuration > Select your preferred choice.

The message about selecting how to connect your device when you connect it using USB will still appear, even though the connected device will recognize it being connected using MTP for example. There is no setting in your device to completely disable this popup.

Is there a way of disabling the need to detect usb device everytime I plug a device in using an OTG cable?

I have a USB camera which i plug in and unplug a lot and it is very annoying having to to press "detect usb device" everytime I plug it in. Is there a way i can make it auto detect?

I have noticed on samsung devices and other tablets you do not need to do this "detect usb device" and it auto detects the device. Is this a Sony thing?

Thanks.

It's because of the waterproof USB port.
It must be deactivated in case it gets wet and shorts out / corrodes due to the contacts oxidising.
