So in this case, I only hear windows sound that something is connected and after 2 seconds sound for device disconnected. I keep pressed volume down and every 3 minutes same thing- just sound of device connected and after that disconnected. I kept volume down pressed for 10 minutes and nothing. I am pretty sure this is hardware-wise problem

Hello everybody

I have this anoying issue with M5 that drives me crazy. So, phone start turning of from time to time, and i handle that with carying power bank with me all the time which was also anoying but ok. And then all a sudden touch screen stop working. I connected it to Xperia Companion to try to fix it that way as i saw instructions online both from Sony officialy and some other people. Companion is asking for turning on MTP mode which can't be done as i can't touch the screen. So i bought otg cable just cause of that, connected it, nothinng happens. Now i have to go trough settings on phone to change some usb device settings which i can't cause one more time my screen is not responding and also can't use mouse. so i turned it off as Sony suggested and turn it on with mouse already connected, again nothing. i tried cable on other phone just to make it sure that cable is working properly and it does.
First of all it's such a shame for company such as Sony to not make it officialy that these phones are faulty and offer service for them.
any suggestions? even though i don't think there is solution but taking it to service

To repair in this case, open Xperia companion, switch off the device and connect by pressing volume down button.

Since the XC can't recognize the device, it will ask you which device you connected. Slct your model(not just m5 check your model no. also). Then proceed

Respond if this works☺

Okay now i don't have a pc with me hence I'm guessing it would be it. Give it a try.

1. Open XC
2. Press & hold volume down button and connect it to pc. Remember you should hold the vol. down button until repair starts. Or device will charge.
3. In XC select software repair.
4. Since it can't detect your device, it asks which device and you have to select correct model.
5. When download of software starts you can remove pressing the vol down button

If it is connected and disconnected randomly, it might be fault of usb cable or port. Did you try using other port or usb cable?

If same issue arises using other port or usb cable also, then it it might be your mobiles usb port problem or really hardware issue.
But before that make sure that your pc's usb port and usb cable have no problem 🙂

It's not that randomly. It's really like a pattern, in same time intervals. Sound for connected....disconnected. after minute same and if i keep it pressed for whole day it would happen million times.

Other usb cable is acctually start charging phone. And other ports are doing same depends on cable.
Anyways Thanks a lot for your patience
Also i don't think it's a mobile port problem cause it's keep on charging. Also keep asking to switch to MTP mode when turned on.

Try like this, press and hold power button and volume up button, it vibrates for 3 times(i don't know what it actually does) then follow the above said procedure.

If not solved, contact sony support team by phone or chat with them. They may well assist you. Eventhough not solved, going to service centre is the only way
It's my pleasure to help you☺

I guess that is forced way to open recovery mode which should always work. but not with mine so when i do that it vibrates once then 3 times, if i release buttons it does nothing, but if i keep pressed it will vibrate once than 3 times every minute, until i release it. It's pretty much same behavior as connecting and disconnecting on usb. Like phone is trying to do something but it keeps going to start again over and over. It sounds like something that virus could do but recovery should open no matter what.
also when i press that combination of buttons and connect cable it keeps vibrating in those patterns only diference is that red light is on. I wouldn't bother this much if Sony service covers my warranty but it doesn't, cause phone is bought in states and i am in Serbia at the moment. I will go there soon so I'll try there, i don't have much patiance for this, cause i tried everything
