Have to pass two screens when using pattern lock

Hi All.

I've set up the pattern lock, and I'd expect to see the pattern screen when I turn the phone on.

Instead I first have to swipe the original screen and after that I get to the pattern lock screen.

Can I somehow remove the initial screen and immediately go to the pattern lock screen?

Do you also have the fingerprint unlock set up? I think that is how it works anyway, been like that since 5.0 I believe.

Hi @Minras,

Welcome to the community.

The initial swipe cannot be removed. Even if you have no PIN/Pattern you will always need to swipe the screen. As @alexdon mentioned it's been in since 5.0.

The Xperia X, depending on your region, may have a fingerprint scanner. Go to Settings > Lock Screen & Security to set it up.

If you have the finger print scanner set up, you only need to press the power button with the finger you have registered and leave it there for half a second, and your screen will automatically unlock.

I don't feel like tuning fingerprints on as I want others to be able to turn the phone on at home.

As to Android 5.0, I don't think this is an Android issue, as my wife doesn't have it on her Samsung.

I think I'll try third party apps, hope they help.

@Minras Samsung is not stock android. You can add more than one fingerprint, so your family can add them too (up to 5).

Will try it maybe, anyway wanted to see how it works. In the worst case will try third party apps.

And will try on my Nexus how the pattern behaves on the original Android, good point about Samsungs

Tried pattern lock on Nexus, it also uses two screens (first swipe, second - the pattern itself).

So indeed it's an Android issue, not Sony.

Thanks for your help, guys.

If designers/developers read this, would be nice to fix the issue as from the user perspective the first screen becomes unnecessary. Or at least this would be nice to have as an option in case when the first screen prevents from accidentally entering incorrect password/pattern (when incorrect attempts are limited). Or from accidentally clicking "emergency call" (though kids do that anyway).

@Minras You could send your feedback to your Local support, but as I have already mentioned, using a fingerprint method to unlock is a lot easier.
