topic 2016 and Arc S with ICS in XPERIA archive

So I've dug up my old Arc S which is still on 2.3 (GB).

It's 2016 now. I've installed Xperia Companion and it doesn't recognise my Arc S. It doesn't seem to recognise my relative's old Xperia Ray. In short, the software doesn't recognise old Sony Ericsson phones.

I wanted to (officially) update my Arc S to ICS. Is there any way in 2016?

XC doesn't support those devices, the way around it is to use flashtool or Contact your local support.

On a side note, the Xperia Arc is one of my favorite Xperias

Hi @SmithArcS,

Unfortunately the Xperia Arc S and Xperia Ray has reached its end of support date, meaning that there is no longer any software available for them. Nor are they compatible with Xperia Companion.

I'm sorry for the inconvenience this may cause.

By Flashtool I assume you mean EMMA (the Sony-branded Flash Tool).

I've installed it, it's connected to the internet and updated itself to 2016 standards. It sees a device connected and asks me to choose from a list (and the Arc S, aka the LT18i, is not on there).

I would have liked to have thought older devices would still be offered their latest firmware (even if their official support period has long past). It is rather frustrating >__<
