Cannot lock the phone after some action

After I unlock the phone (with fingerprint), I am unable to lock the phone again immediately.

Say, I unlocked the phone to send a message, after sending the message I tried to lock the phone by pressing the power key. I could see the screen switching off. When I press the power key again to unlock, the home screen of the phone is displayed rather than asking for PIN or showing a message like the fingerprint is not recognized. (I used the finger whose print is not registered to unlock the phone) The phone is not getting locked.

Also, I do not have any smart device connected to my phone with which it could stay unlocked when it is connected.

I have the tap to wake up feature enabled, and I tried to lock the phone with the double-tap. I could see the screen switching off but the phone stays unlocked when I press the power key. (I used the unregistered finger to unlock)

What could be the problem?

Welcome to the community.

I am sorry to hear you are having so much trouble with locking your phone.

Could you please test the phone in safe mode and see if it does the same thing?
