Locked out of phone after update

From user to user, I would not upgrade any Sony software moving forward... unless you have extra money and desire to purchase a new product to replace the 'to-be-dead/defective' Sony product.

I decided to run the install update tonight after fully backing up my phone with the PC Companion.

Watched the phone do the update; Saw the application updates... got to the unlock screen... put in my pin and that is all - it will stay on the pin entry screen with the emergency call button below, I cannot get into my phone.

I see the phone register to the mobile network and it has signal, but it will not receive any calls.

Camera works but I cannot get into the phone.

Been trying to do a hard reset on this phone to wipe and start over again in HOPES I have a working phone. Nothing is working.

PC Companion cannot connect to the phone either.

It is a shame... about the product and the fact that I still tried to trust Sony and hit the install for my phone; Now I have a dead tablet and phone.

**If you are planning to do the update I wish best as now I have a dead Z2 tablet and a dead Z3 phone.

For the phone, try removing your security lock pin before upgrading.

Did you try performing a software repair using Xperia Companion while phone is off?

Hi Quester,

You answered first and with the typical responses again; True diedhard Sony fan ... I am slowly not becoming one but fear the only other alternative now is to go Apple and 'conform'.

Yes I use the Xperia Companion with repair and it could not do anything which was surpise to me since the phone is 'on'.

I forgot to mention I did try getting into the phone with safe mode.

***One more thing to note for other readers is that it took well over 1 hour to pass the preparing contact storage screen. I was able to mow my lawn and it was still on that screen. By the time I cleaned myself up was when I had the unlock screen but as noted, stuck on this screen - cannot get into the phone.

Did you try repair whilst OFF? Was questers question.
Turn off, hold volume down and connect to pc USB cable whilst holding volume down

Yes and Yes; Note the mention of Safe Boot and trying to hard reset.

Currently using the Xperia Flash Tool to just wipe and reinstall everything which is the easy part ... customizing it to what I want is going to be tough unless the PC Companion backup I did before the install update is able to 'merge' to this newer update and apply all my settings - that would be fantastic.

Safe boot and hard reset do not mean your tried repairing while mobile is off, anyways flashing will do the trick also if you're comfortable with it.

I agree normally the Xperia Companion should do the trick but it just sits on initalizing.... I am now done flashing the device and thankfully my device is working. Now for hours of personal updates =(
