Screen turns on randomly after locking

Hi all

My problem is that after I lock my phone
The screen will randomly turn on, it doesn't seem
To be a set time it turns on, sometimes it's frequently
And other times not so much, any help will be appreciated
As this is using alot of battery, and is quite annoying

Sorry to hear about this issue, let us see if we can help resolve this for you.

Based on the information you have supplied, this could be due to an array of things. The first one I suggest checking is if Tap to wake is turned on.

Apps > Settings > Display > Tap to Wake up

This option allows your screen to be turned on with a simple double tap.

Check this and let me know how you get on.

Uliwooly: yeah I do, genuine Sony case. Seems to do it regardless if the case is open or closed

Jake: Hi Jake double tap was off mate. This happens when the phone it sitting next to me with nothing touching it aswell, any more information required please let me know

@ToadFishh,

It could be the software for the style cover causing this. Try disconnecting and re-connecting the style cover.

You might also want to reset the smart connect app. You can do this by going to Settings > Apps > Smart Connect > Force Stop > Storage > Clear Data, then restart your phone.

What do you mean by reconnecting cover? Turn NFC off and on again?

If I clear data on my smart connect app won't it delete it?

Also this hasn't done this the whole time I've had my phone, It was just since about the last major update so had only started happening the last few months

@ToadFishh,

Reconnect it via NFC yes. Clearing the data on the smart connect app will not delete it, it will just reset it to default. Because the smart cover interacts with your screen I am suggesting you reconnect it as a test.

Hi mate have reconnected the smart cover and cleared the data from smart connect and is stiff occurring

Hi mate

Didn't seem to happen in safe mode, but alot of phone content was missing or wouldn't load

Hi @ToadFishh,

If it is not happening in safe mode, it would indicate that a third party app is causing the problem.

The first thing to do is make sure all your apps are completely up to date. After that, try removing apps one at a time and testing after each until you identify what app is the issue.

Alternatively, you can run a software repair using Xperia Companion which will erase all data on your phone and start fresh. Make sure you backup your data first.
