American sites

When I search on my phone it always takes me to American sites and when using diary I try to mark where I am going and it suggests American places. It's driving me mad that I have to find English sites and sterling instead of dollars

It's nothing to do with the phone itself. Use Google.co.uk and allow Chrome to access location.
Other than that you just need to be internet savvy.

Sorry to hear that. I remember the first time I made a purchase on Steam and it was shown in Euro instead of my own currency so I can understand the annoyance this causes for you.

First of all, what language have you set the system language to in your phone? If it's English (US), change it to UK instead. You can check this under Settings > Language & input.

Should the above not help my guess is that this is related to your Google account. Try to (temporarily) remove your Google account from your phone, does the same thing happen when you open a website? To remove an account, go to Settings > Accounts > Google > Press your gmail-address > Tap the three dots > Remove account. Make sure that you have all your account credentials before doing this.
