Support forum
(0)
Up
96 Replies
New Topic
Loss of network signal during calls & drops out - Z3 Dual D6633
lordnismo lordnismo Apprentice
Jun 7
Hello and thanks for the time to read

I have recently purchased a Z3 Dual sim D6633 and around twice a day either when receiving or making a call the phone suddenly drops out during conversation and both network strength bars are showing no signal. a message briefly shows up saying no no network signal ( or something to that effect ) then dissappears. A few seconds later the signal comes back for both sims and all is ok again.
I have absolutly no idea why this is happening but its becoming frustrating especially when I have to call clients back....

Has anyone experienced this before or know a fix for it. currently Sim 1 is set for GSM only (2G) and Sim 2 for LTE. both are on Telstra.
The phone updated to the latest version when I got it and to my knowledge hasnt updated since - 5.0.2

Would really appreciate your help with this, thanks
Add Comment
Kudos 3
Quester Quester Genius
Jun 7
I have a Z3 dual, didn't notice such an effect.

Since updating to 6.0.1 I have had real problems with Lte connectivity..
I had great reception under previous android, but now it hardly connects for data (calls seem to be okay)..
I've tried wcdma preferred, but it doesn't appear to make any difference.

Anyone else got this problem, or any solutions?

I am experiencing the same thing since the 6.0.1 update. I am on T-Mobile and I am fine until I lose cell signal temporarily. It seems as though when I lose signal and then regain it, it fails to re-establish the data connection although all visual indicators are that it is established. The error thrown in Chrome is a DNS error, although it is unclear right now if that is a total loss of connectivity (gateway unreachable) or if maybe the DHCP (IP/DNS) information is getting dropped and not coming back.

I have a few IP utilities on my phone, so I will check that next time it happens.

If the SIM was bad, how would I get it to reconnect? This is not a SIM problem. If the SIM was bad, voice wouldn't work much less data.

Happened again to me on the way to work today. There is one spot on my commute where I lose signal for about 5 - 10 seconds and that was enough to completely disable data on my device.

I checked my IP utility and I had IPv6 addresses for my radio interface, gateway, and DNS servers. The addresses are there, but the packets aren't getting through.

I'm very sorry to hear that

First go to Settings -> More -> Mobile networks -> Access Point Names -> [your APN]. Here make sure "APN protocol" is set to IPv4/IPv6 and not IPv6.

If this doesn't help, would it be possible for you to send me a private message with some information about your phones and also a log taken after this has happened?

First open the dialer and dial *#*#7378423#*#*, select Service info -> Model info and note the model number.

Then go back to "Service info" and select "Software info". Take a screenshot, scroll down and take another screenshot.

Go back to "Service info", select "Configuration" and take a screenshot.

To take a log:

Settings > About phone > Build number, tap 7 times on the build number
Go back to Settings and select Developer options and turn on "USB debugging". Then tap "Logger buffer sizes" and set this to "4 M".
- The next time you don't get network connection:
Settings > Developer options, select "Take bug report". When the report is ready (may take a minute or so) you get a notification that you can tap and share to Google Drive.

Please send me model number, screen shots and a link to the file on Google Drive in a private message and i'll forward this internally for investigation.

Ok.. Hands up.. I got it sorted, eventually..

My provider has changed its APN settings, when I downloaded them, it downloaded the old settings.. It's only taken 3 days of trawling the internet to find the new ones.

Just wanna say thanks to the Sony guys on here for offering their assistance with this.

Chris

Rickard,

My APN was set to IPv6 only. I have switched it to IPv4/IPv6. I will respond if the problem clears up and I will also get you the logs. Prior to changing the setting it happened again twice this morning.

Android Marshmallow issues

I've had Xperia z2 (D6503) for almost 2 years now. 2 weeks ago i updated my phone to android marshmallow from lolipop. After the update was done, my LTE connection didn't work at all even though my area is covered. LTE worked flawlessly before i updated to Android M. I have 4G LTE nano SIM card, it worked fine on other phone, APN setting is also fine. Also, my phone needs about 4-6 hours to charge from about 20% to 100%, meanwhile, before i updated to marshmallow, it took only 3-4 hours. Other than that, my battery drains really fast (compared to when i was using lolipop ). Please help me to fix these problems. Thanks in advance.
