How did you downgrade your phone?

Why would a carrier/network suggest to downgrade your phone?

I have no warranty as my screen was smashed and I stupidly went to a shop instead of going through my insurance. So it was either doing it myself or having a huge software bill through EE, or so the staff said.

Nothing has changed. Went into EE yesterday and they ran a diagnostics on it and said they did not find any errors. Even though they can see there's no WiFi they were stuck for an answer. I spoke with a Sony rep and they just told me to repair via pc companion again which I have just done and nothing has changed.

There won't be any help. They will tell you to.send it to Sony for repair. Because you have no warranty you must expect heavy bill. I can assure you that there is no hardware problem only some kind of glitch in their firmware. Sony even doesn't know what is it. If you send it to Sony they won't repair it and if your phone was under warranty they would give you a new one. So you need to pray for a new update that may accidently fix it or maybe not. Im in the same situation like you. I didn't find any solution to it, there only one I have found is that somebody discovered that wi fi start to work back with no reason.
