It's not an automatic space. Also according to the description of the automatic space, it only does so after word suggestions, not after dots. I don't think you understand what the problem is
Say I'm typing like this and makeao.Osmiley <- that is what it does.. Removes the space between the two previous words, the smiley and the word I start typing after the smiley :S (and same happens with abbreviated words, just the smiley which is the most annoying as I use that smiley quite often it's also 'only' that smiley it happens with)

Hey everyone.
Love my phone and everything but lately when I try to make the "o.O" smiley or try to type "f.eks." (Danish abbreviation for 'for example' ;)) it acts up and starts removing the space between precious words and putting the smiley in there somewhere and such.. It's really quite frustrating because I have to do weird things if I wanna make the smiley, like using the () and then remove them after and things like that....
Before anybody asks, yes I have the latest software and no I do not use any keyboard apps, I 'only' use the built-in Xperia keyboard

If you mean that you don't like the automatic space that is added after dots or words, you can turn this off from Settings -> Language & input -> Xperia keyboard -> Symbols and smileys -> Automatic space (disable).

Top one where it corrects all mistakes etc, but that'd require it to suggest correcting something when I make the smiley, which it doesn't (was the first thing I looked for by typing slowly after it started doing it, and it doesn't suggest anything)

The first option with automatically correct typos without giving suggestions, can you switch to second option and try to type it again?

You got that wrong mate, it always suggests what it then corrects into when I press space without clicking the suggestion it's 'never' corrected into something else than what it suggests.. I've used this setting since smartphones came out pretty much, I've never encountered this problem before.. The smiley-problem started a few weeks ago only

If it was working fine then messed up suddenly then I'd suggest that you refresh your keyboard app (Note: keyboard setting might reset so you'll have to reconfigure it):

- Go to Settings -> Apps -> All -> Xperia keyboard -> Force stop, Uninstall updates, Clear data and restart your phone

- Go to Play Store and update you Xperia keyboard again.
