Hi, everyone. I bought the Z5 in January and I love it. I'm impressed with the design and the phone overall, but the battery life is pretty poor. I have Stamina mode on and it lasts me a day max; without Stamina mode, it's less.

Does anyone have tips for extending the battery life further? I have adaptive brightness on the screen, wifi turns off when the screen is off, etc. But I have not been able to get 'up to two days' battery life' out of it once.

We'll need more info to better assist you

restart the phone > charge the phone 100% use it as you normally would then once the battery reaches 10%

settings > power management > battery > take screenshots of:

1. the list

2. tap on the graph and take a screenshot

3. back > tap on the top 4 items on the list > take a screenshot of each

post them all here or upload the screenshots to box or dropbox or google drive or etc and post the link

Well the only option that really saved me battery was the background wifi scan. I get 49 mAh when device is on standby compared to 72 mAh.

go to wireless - advanced and untick the 2nd option ( scanning always available )

Download AIDA64 / Battery section .

Note that it used to work fine and update every 1 sec on my previous Xperia. On Z5 it updates every 10 secs. You have to be patient.

Hello.

Here are those screenshots. Please note that I manually turn Google Fit on and off only when I'm walking, running or going to the gym, so I don't have the app or location services running. My screen brightness is rarely on full. I have it on low and adaptive brightness enabled. (P.S. Thank you to the people above who suggested the Wifi trick.)

After a full charge, it's saying I can get an estimated 19 hours of battery time: that's with Stamina enabled, wifi scanning and location services disabled, etc. So how does one get 'up to two days' battery life**'? My Z2 used to get two days easily on KitKat, so why is battery life on my Z5 so weak? It seems to be on a par with an Apple phone.

I use a couple of ITTT apps so that Wifi is only turned on in locations I want it, and when it disconnects then the profile for the location resets to out and about (i.e. leave the office or home and Wifi will turn off). AutoSync is tied to the same profiles.

My screen is set on about 35% brightness and is also adaptive.

Depending on what I am doing, I can get close to 2 days of charge, and before I got my Galaxy S2 Gear and BT head phones I used to get more than 2 days as I'd almost never have BT turned on.

I only ever kept the display on when I'm using the phone. It's not like I activated the screen and left it on for no reason. I noticed there was a discrepancy between the display being on and the apps being used. After a bit of investigating, I noticed that the screen was staying active even with the screen locked and charging. I've sorted this now and my battery has settled. I can get a day and about 5–8 hours out of it now.
