No sound from text message

After a couple of days of using my phone the text message sound no longer worked. I get notifications for facebook message etc. but would rather have a tone for text message. I have been into settings and made sure have selected which sound I would like - but cannot seem to find where the problem lays?

settings > about phone > diagnostics > test > test the loud speaker

Hi tjl59,

Do you have a App Notifications option within the the sound menu?

Menu > Settings > Sound & Notifications > Find Messaging > check out the settings.

if you do not have this section, try a safemode boot then test the handset.
