No data while phone is locked

None of my apps download anything when the phone is locked. Eg, whatsapp, viber etc.

1. Removed all battery saving apps
2. Stamina is turned OFF
3. Background data restriction is OFF
4. Wi-Fi is ON, even while phone is asleep
5. Said apps are set to correct options for notifications, sound, downloading.
6. No change after upgrading the OS months ago
7. Heaps of Googling to try and find an answer.

I'm a PC/Server tech so no stranger to trawling through forums and tech docs for solutions to odd issues.

I'm sorry to hear that, I noticed that you said that stamina mode its off, do you have any other battery app installed? how about any other settings on those apps to reduce data usage?

Have you repaired the phone with PCC?

have you set the WiFi to always on?

Thanks for the reply.

As mentioned I removed all power saving apps. Phone has been factory reset due to another issue since so should be no residual effects.

Wi-Fi is always on, even when phone is asleep.

No apps which control data or data flow have ever been installed.

Haven't tried a repair. Will give that a shot

Looked into the repair process, this is just a factory reset. Have already done one of these with no result

could you try again, and do NOT restore anything, don't enter your Gmail account > just test it for a couple of hours and report back.

Ouch, that's a huge pain in the be-hind

I guess I'll need to create another Google account to download the apps I need in order to do the test.

Reset, logged in with an empty google account tested and working. Excellent, thanks. But really I was trying to avoid tthis whole process, which is why I asked here.

Turns out it was my launcher causing the issue. I'll now spend the next 2 weeks trying to get my phone back to where it was.

A reset is not a diagnosis tool, it's a last resort. I know better yet I still listened, now I'm kicking myself.
