Is it only me or the Z5P is perfect ?

After watching this forum for a month and spending 2 weeks with my Z5P I am a bit astonished by the number of complaints on the forum and I think it's time to be fair...

This device is stunning. I have the chrome version with 64GB storage card and dual sim ( one Roaming and one LTE ).

- Screen is incredibly crisp. I'm on 320 dpi here and I find it pleasing.

- Battery is lasting a good day ( 8 AM till 11 PM ) with moderate to heavy usage ( 3 hours whatsapp messages/calls + outlook + soundcloud + 1 hour browsing etc... ) and I'm never worried about the battery even on 320 dpi.

- Heating has never been observed, a little warm sometimes but just like other phones under load. Weather is 27C here. I don't do gaming so I am not sure about this one but watching youtube or videos never make the device hot.

- Camera is too picky and I had to take my time to get used to it. After playing with settings this phone can take incredibly good pics even under low light.

- I still like the design as I find it very elegant. Bezels don't annoy me as they are very useful in landscape mode else I wouldn't have had enough room for my thumbs.

- Speakers are fine, a bit unbalanced but that depends on what I'm playing. Loudness is good.

- Fingerprint scanner is a bit picky but with time I learned how to configure it so that it works 80% of the time. Still not 100% but then my laptop fingerprint scanner isn't 100% accurate.

- I got the QC 2.0 charger included and charging time is 1h 10 mins - 1h 40 mins from 15% to 100% depending on what's running in background although the charging rate exceeds 2000 mAh as reported by AIDA64, it tends to go down to 200-500 mAh at 90%

- Device is very fast and little to no hiccups under intensive tasks ( i'm on 320dpi so... ) but I hope for a faster boot time. 50 secs is till OK.

So far No FPS, Wifi, Battery, heat, speaker, charging or performance issue as reported which makes me believe that some users got either faulty units or different firmware.

My only annoyance is that the screen is super sensitive and sometimes I can tap without touching the screen, just by hovering but I have yet to see if a screen protector or tempered glass will do the trick as I'm using none.

Its great to hear/read posts like this, its hard to get them at a support forum, but indeed, either users have detective units or they need to get use to the camera and take advantage of the best camera on a smartphone

I agree, I absolutely love the Z5p, if Sony have indeed finished with Z series, they couldn't have finished it with anything better.

Like many using this forum, my only complaints have been with the camera and the overheating. They could possibly addressed in the next software update.

Overheating only really ally happens on certain apps, but still not a massive omg it's gonna burst into flames type of overheating. Most smartphones in my experience get hotter the more you play about with them.

The camera has an auto setting so no reason to play about with setting up if you really need to. Sadly tho for many, and obviously not all, auto is by no means perfect. Again a software update may put this right.

as for battery life, after testing it with the one app I use the most, I cannot complain. Running just on battery power and with blue tooth turned on I can get 20 hours of streaming with Spotify. This takes me from 100% to 0% That I find to be a more than suitable battery life. Again obviously the more you play about, the quicker it will drain.

At the end of the day it is a smartphone with many uses, so a little give and take has to be expected. You have not bought a camera or a hand held gaming device or a music system. You have bought something that has the ability to do all of that. If it was possible for smartphones to run every type of application perfectly then all smartphones would basically be the same, but they don't so each manufacturer specialises in one feature. With all the rest as near to best as they can manage.

Tbh, I find the camera exceptional now I've properly learnt how to use it, 23MP in daylight, 8MP in low light, and don't believe the hype... This camera IS better than the S6 camera.

+1 and thanks for the positive post - I agree with most of your points, though in relation to my Z5c. It may be there are many defective units, or that folk have perhaps been tinkering with the software, but the forum does sometimes give the impression of a playground for trolls, let loose from HTC, Samsung or Apple (ok, i'm running for cover ....).

Perhaps, like you, it's just me but I've had the Z5c for the last 8 weeks (tempered glass added, but no root or unlocked bootloader), and I've got to say it's the perfect phone - I have not had any problems with it at all. Coming from a Samsung miniS4 (rooted and running CM13 marshmallow nightlies, downloaded on a daily basis), and before that numerous HTC phones, the Z5s is just so much better and hassle-free - the best phone I've had to date. Battery, camera, bluetooth, screen, CPU speed, smoothness, broadband reception, 32G RAM, you name it, the Z5s wins hands down.

In my opinion Z3c was amazing. Infact I tossed it to my wife. In her hands battery holds for five days without stamina.

My Z5c has is own character, like a cat

It heats up sometime with no reason, is battery hungry or totally inert with a will of its own. And he likes to listen radio when and how it wants, rather than when I want.

But pictures are good. Noise cancelling is great and the new auto audio tuning makes work well almost every earphone.

I don't think you're the only one who loves the phone but also those who complained also have a reason to. Everyone uses the phone differently..some do get faulty sets but many just find some flaws in the phone that doesn't suit their purpose compared to other phones they use.

For me, my buggest issue is only the camera. I have no doubt the sensor can take great photos, it's just the software built for it isn't good enough to cope with it and if youd osearch for any reviews comparing it to other phones, almost every single website will give you enough examples on how it's worse than the Iphone6 or S6 etc..it's all due to the software procesing the images.

In fact, here's my complains about it...everything else about the phone is fine, except the camera which I DO hope is fixed in android 6 (Whenever that arrives), if not, i'll probably also dump my Z5P and get the S7 when it's available.

I have the z1/z2/z3/z4 tablet/z5P so yes, i have used ALL the xperias and still own all of them today.

My favourtie of all is still the z3. The camera is one of the best and most consistent amoungst all the models.

The Z5 camera is unpredictable and in most cases, it takes decent photos but give it tricky situations and it pretty much gets everything wrong in auto mode. Using it in manual mode helps but most people want it to work well in auto mode.

Sony claims fastest AF and they're not wrong, except it take 203sec just to launch the camera, by the tme it starts, the action is gone so having fast AF is pointless.

Having fast AF means good tracking, however, Sony REMOVED the burst shooting mode from the older xperias, so what's the point of tracking if you can't shoot in burst?

Having 23mp is also useless when it was really made to run in 8mp and also ONLY in the Z5, Sony has blocked 3rd party apps from being able to access the camera natively. All you get is 2mp options in 16:9 widescreen mode.. This mean apps i purchased like Camera Fv, or Camera360 etc...all no longer work on the z5 anymore. All my other xperias don't have this problem.

So yea, i have bought every single xperia mainly because of it's camera and if Sony doesn't fixed these flaws in the next firmware, i'm afraid i can't carry on using the Z5P..

I get what you're saying, I really do. The 3rd party camera limitations are a poor show, I wouldn't mind if the stock camera app had full control, but it doesn't so...
I too saw the appeal in the Samsung, I skipped Z3+ and got an S6 edge, amazing phone, but after a few months I found myself getting more and more annoyed at the memory not working correctly, and it wasn't as fluid as it should have been, the Xperias were definitely more user friendly. I do hope they open up this camera a bit more, And give more actual control in manual mode, but if not, I can still take better pics on this than on the Samsung, and regardless of MWC claims, I won't be running off to Samsung again.

The e6853 is the best phone I've ever had the pleasure of owning. I will continue to stay with Sony xperia devices from here on out. Only thing I'd like to do is root the thing. For you z5p owners I'd like to recommend the aluminum bumper case from devilcase. 33 bucks but worth every cent.

CONTACTS APP CRASHES ALL THE TIME AND I CAN'T USE KEYPAD FOR CALLS.

The Z-Series is known to get the best parts of manufactures into one Smartphone with three factors. Compact/Medium/Large.

This is something very special, but this support forum will always be talking negative about the smartphones as it's for repairing the bad example of great phone. Same in Iphone and Samsung forums.
