sim issue M4 Aqua dual

I updated my phone's sofware a week ago while on holiday. When the update finished and restarted my phone it now only picks up one sim. I phoned the customer support and they advised me to download the Xperia companion which i did and i used the "software repair" to try and resolve my problem. Now this deleted all of my data on my phone which is fine but now my phone is still not fixed and it is basicaly unusable as my data runs through the second sim and i cant even swap the sim i want to use for data as it seems you need both sims active to switch between which sim you want to use.

This is really frustrating and i would apriciate any help

Did you try switching the places of SIM cards? (Put SIM 1 in Slot 2 and vise versa)

Did you try to get a new SIM for operator?

yes i have im sure that its not the sim that isn't working as both of the simis work fine in the other slot and in other phones
